  • By using particle board with a slice of wood as top layer instead of only solid wood in this product, we use less wood per product. That way, we take better care of resources.

We want to have a positive impact on the planet. That is why by 2030, we want all materials in our products to be recycled or renewable, and sourced in responsible ways.

its a very nice pieceEugeneits very beautiful but was not easy to assemble and you need to be pretty careful4
Clean, modern lookMICHELLEHawked this item for months, as it's been sold out. Once I got it, I was so happy as it's the perfect TV/entertainment center console. Clean and modern vibe, and with lots of storage. Great color and quality feel. Love it.5
Great quality, beautiful, elegant andSvjetlanaGreat quality, beautiful, elegant and modern.5
GorgeousYeseniaWorth the wait! I had to wait WEEEKS for this to be restocked, so glad I did!! Its perfect in my new living room. I love it so so much!!5
A deliberately simple sideboardDavid M.Its dimensions and wood color were perfect for a small dining area that had just received a new dining table after the old one was unfortunately ruined. It helped that we had a set of four Stockholm chairs, very similar color. The simple shelves possibly need boxes to hold items. The door opening system depends on a hand-pressure fixture that looks as though it might not be reliable over a long term. Assembly required careful attention to instructions and is inherently time consuming. There's lots of steps. Notably, the door hinges are of two varieties. The wooden frame on which the box stands is real wood, quite beautiful. Too bad it's almost hidden. Almost all the rest is of course veneer.5
Carries the weight of over 400 LPs!Craig Y.This was perfect for storing my album collection. I was concerned with the weight and bowing of the structure But it has held up very well. I had to tweak the doors a little after the load but it was very easy to correct.5
Difficult getting doors straightSylvi4Difficult getting doors straight2
Very attractive, assembly was a challenge.TexanitaReally heavy too, that's not so great. I like the look very much. I like the subtle latch concept. We got lost in the assembly and had to hire a Task Rabbit - so glad we found someone who rescued this expensive piece!4
Trick to aligning doors with proper hingeBoredintampaThis cabinet really pops in our family room. So many people report poor door alignment and door fittings. You must use the correct hinges for the outside doors vs the inside doors. Page 29 of the instruction booklet shows this. The hinges labeled 3 with the L piece are for each outside door. Once I got that part correct it was seemless adjusting all of the spacing on all of the door fronts. The finish is excellent. I highly recommend this item!!5
Jk0930Nice touch to the living room5
Be Aware Door Hinges shipped without baseplates!Barry KAll of the door hinges were shipped without their baseplates (8 pieces) and without their screws to the baseplates (16 pieces). I cannot attach them or find replacements. I have not been able to reach anyone from Ikea support during Covid to resolve. Be aware before you buy!1
QualityKing GVery nice surface appearance and finishing. Looks great in my living room.5
Look nice but.....DanTexasThe doors are hard to adjust. I couldn’t adjusted and I hope to return it. Think before you buy it.2
Beautiful SideboardKlbaWe were looking for something that our tv could sit on that would also provide some storage for our family room. This is perfect. It’s a really nice piece of furniture! It was easy to assemble although I did need an extra hand a couple of times. I would definitely recommend!5
Looks great, doors are not worth the troubleKarl123Overall, was excited for this piece, since it's a great price for the size/look, especially compared to at other stores.2
Nice productStaneyThe hinges installation was not clear. I found it hard way that they are two different hinges !5
Very well built!dgellisWe purchased this because of the real Walnut and the features. The Walnut veneer is manufacture very well. The design is timeless. Fits perfectly with our design and space. The value compared to other pieces we looked at was great. Extremely easy to put together. Adjusting the door alignment took 30 minutes. In the end it looks fabulous!5
SturdyStevie7This product is great! Tons of room it’s strong and sturdy. Doesn’t look cheap at all! One of the more expensive pieces at Ikea but worth every penny!5
Fit and finish are a step up for IKEALuthersonThis is a well made piece and looks great. The instructions, specifically page 28, does a poor job of indicating that the inside and outside door hinges are very different. Page 29 shows the hinge parts snapping together with thumb pressure...not so easy. Aligning the doors takes lots of time and patience.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.

Designer thoughts

Details create long-term quality. When I designed the STOCKHOLM series, I used lacquer that protects the surface and makes the material feel natural. The big picture was key, and the robust look is also on the inside and the backside. The slightly higher legs add simplicity to the expression and the table’s soft lines and the straight design of the storage units create contrasts, just like in nature. The result is timeless furniture ‒ just as beautiful alone as together!
