Desks & computer desks

Whether you’re working from home, unlocking new game levels or putting in hours at the office, desks and computer desks are by your side. Technically, they’re more at your front. But you know what we mean – office desks and furniture are essential for tackling tasks, and we have lots to choose from.

A desk where you can also eat dinner

If you want more flexibility from your desk, you can pair a table top that you like with legs that have casters – and slide a bench underneath. After work, you can simply roll the desk away from the wall so that family or friends can gather round for a meal.

Whether you work from home all the time or only some of the time, you can arrange your workspace quickly and economically with IKEA furniture.

Life is movement for people and desks

The more you sit and stand, the more important it is that you do it right. Desks that let you sit, stand, or alternate between the two are essential. Ergonomic for your whole family too, because we’re all different.

How high should a desk be?

The standard height for a computer desk is between 19-28 inches. Within this range, most people should be able to find a height that fits.

Depending on how tall you are, and what kind of desk chair you use, you can determine which height is most comfortable for you. A few general guidelines for a good desk height are:

  • When sitting down, the desk should reach up to your elbows. You should be able to comfortably rest your arms on the surface in a roughly 90-degree angle.
  • Underneath the desk, you should have roughly 35-40 cm from the top of your knees to the bottom of the desk. And from the bottom of the desk to the floor it should be roughly 60 cm.
  • Remember that your height and your sitting position might influence your optimal desk height, but since ergonomics can go a long way in supporting your body and warding off fatigue, it’s worth spending a little time on
  • Try sitting by a desk or dinner table and measure the height to make a calculated choice.
