comfortable as a sofa, so-so as a bedcmintonWe've had this sofa up for several months; I've slept on it and so have guests. PROS: nice and long. plenty of room for naps. foam seats are firm, but comfortable. like that i can move the ottoman where i want it. like that i can store the bedding in the ottoman. like the gray color. easy to put together. fits my space perfectly. it's not soiled (yet!) but the fabric looks easy to clean although spots will show up. looks nice in the space. CONS: if you don't line up the top fabric and the underside liner EXACTLY where the holes are for using the U-shaped clamps to keep the entire bed frame together, it's a huge pain. nobody can figure out how to fold the legs! sometimes we can, other times we fight with them. while i didn't mind the stiffness of the foam bed, my guests did. we had to buy a 2 topper to make it bearable for them - and now i have to store that as well. the inside of the ottoman is just fabric, so when it's full of bedding and pillows, it drags across the floor when we move it. the back pillows are awful! they bunch up in some places, and flatten out in others. the tiny side pillows are just plain silly. they're made with cheap filling - they're just for looks. the design is just so cool, great to have a multi-functional piece. if only it was easier to change the thing into a bed! we love ikea for the innovation; this sleeper, however, rates a meh.3
Poor QualityHelen__I bought this sofa without seeing it in the showroom and was hoping it looked and felt good as it looked. Unfortunately this is not the case. I guess you do get what you pay for and this is a very cheaply made sofa. It is a wire frame covered by the cover. It feels poorly made once you sit on it. The sofa cushion feels nice but also doesn't feel like it would last for long. The worst part of the sofa are the cushions. They feel very poorly made and as someone else said feels like they've been stuffed with crumpled up pieces of newspaper. The overall fabric is a bit scratchy too. I would really not recommend this product even for the low price. Some things are just not worth it at all.1
Not comfortableashG88I bought this for my guest room that has turned into my office but I still need a place for my out of town guest to sleep. Its extremely uncomfortable. I contacted Ikea to see if there was a replacement cushion so I can make it softer and there isn't. It is perfect for sitting space in my office but not to sleep on. I will be ordering a down to put on top of it for extra comfort.3
Loving it. But....ShortayI bought this last week Saturday( March 8 2k19). My friend (older guy) took bout 3 hrs to put it together lol. He left the frame cover for the back and the two sides for me to put on. A few things : the cover for the ottoman wasn't in what I picked up (ikea in Brooklyn ny) So I gotta return back (had called ikea Sunday) and the guy said I will have to show my receipt to get rit FREE . I thought the pillows came with it. Found out, it's sold separately. The instructions were really dumb!!! We paying 419-449+for sleeper sofa, or sofa in general and they come with those kind of instructions is pathetic!! I'm a lil confused as in how you transform this into the queen bed that everyone talking about.. Lastly the mattress is a lil HARD to sleep on. So is the sofa mattress it self if you fall asleep on it or being forced to sleep on it lol (my 5 yr old rugrat started sleeping on the pull out mattress since the next day when it was put together) and she has a whole bed in the bedroom lol. What kind of mattress topper do ya'll have in mind to use on the pull out bed?? Can the mattresses for the sofa itself be switched with a different kind from elsewhere??5
Great sleeperSofrg22We love the sofa It looks Great and it’s comfortable and good for small spaces The only issue with ours isn’t that it was missing the bed spring cover5
Super Functional!CC93I bought this couch about eight months ago and have used it quite a bit. I find it very comfortable and most of all, extremely purposeful. It has an ottoman that can be moved to either side and doubles as storage! It can also be used as a full/queen size bed. It isn't a pull-out, but instead there is an extra cushion attached to a table w/ foldable legs that fits perfectly under the couch. This means that you can also use that piece as extra seating for guests. Overall, the quality is good, not the best, but good for the price and good for someone starting out. I didn't put it together, but the person I hired did it in about an hour.4
Great for small spacesCharchar83I’ve had this sleeper sofa for about 6 months now and it really is great my studio apt. I use it for both sleeping and sitting etc. It’s very sturdy, I haven’t had a problem with it moving or feeling rickety. The cushions do soften up over time but don’t lose complete firmness which I happen to like, maybe not others. Was fairly easy to put together considering but I would recommend a helper. The material is a little rough however that needs to be with the pulling apart and together again, I keep a few cozy blankets around. I love the ottoman it’s perfect for storing my sleep gear and also great as an extra seat. I’ve been really pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it but also to keep in mind this is more like a glorified futon and not a sofa as one would imagine a sofa, keep that in mind! 6 months later and no issues!5
Could not be happieracboyz2Such a great size for my NYC apartment, comfortable, storage in ottoman, and even converts into a bed (and I must add, a queen sized bed). This is the first review I've written for an IKEA product because it truly is my new favorite part of my apartment and could not recommend it more, especially for the price point.5
It’s better than I expectedAllnicknamesaretakenI love this sleeper sofa. We needed something for our reading nook in our bedroom, and this couldn’t be more perfect. Quick change to a sleeper sofa (when we have more people staying and the kiddos are staying in our bedroom). Nice color, decent comfort level. We did have a bit of a nightmare story with purchasing this in the store though. The store verified on the phone having it in stock. After we arived (almost 2 hours one way), the little cusion of the hidden part was missing (they didn’t even tell us that, we found out at home). When we called them it was simply explained, well, they don’t have THAT part. I love you Ikea, but come on!! It took them over 2 months and countless phone calls to get it.5
Order OnlineacreasiaIn short: buy Ikea products online and have them delivered. I attempted to buy this couch at the Renton Ikea store, because online it stated it was in stock. I went to the store and was told they had all of the parts except the main couch cushion, but they said they would have the missing part in stock either in the next 1-3 days. And so, I bought the dang couch thinking I could get the main couch cushion in the next few days. Terrible decision. The couch cushion is not sold separately, and so could not be ordered online. It's been four week, and apparently its now it's in stock. While I am on hold to verify with the contact center that the cushion is now in stock, I'll cross my fingers. But, the Ikea contact center has told me that the Renton location will be receiving a shipment with the product every week for the past four weeks and I've gone to the store and been totally played. Anyways, the couch is great. But, goodness gracious don't go to the stores.4
Love the length!lokiidokiiBought this for my apartment because I needed something fast and affordable. Cons: the main section is super long (the site gives measurements but add a few inches because of the packaging/box), the beige cover was out of stock and they said it was in limited supply (still waiting on the cover, which is a pain), and the pillows are kinda sad (very slim/cheap but nothing that can't be fixed by stuffing in a king sized pillow or purchasing some throw pillows for some extra back support). Pros: Super easy to put together - I was able able to put this together myself in just a couple of hours (and I'm a lady that's not super strong), all of the pieces made it lightweight enough that it was really easy to haul into my 2nd floor apt, once put together the couch is light enough for me to move around on my own (which is a huge plus since I live alone), it's really big (I have a huge living room so this is a plus for me - there's enough room that myself and another person can comfortably lay out on the couch), and the cushions that make up the seating/sleeping parts are very comfy.5
Perfect fit for our apartment.MuktaWe love this sleeper sofa.4
Outstanding! Strong, comfortable, beautiful!PWAGWe just received this Sandbacken Sleeper sectional at 7:30 this morning and had it put together by noon. It is very comfortable, sitting or lying. The design and oatmeal color are lovely. The materials, solid. Cannot go wrong with steel construction, and strong fabric. The drawings are a great way to give instructions, making it fun teamwork to assemble. Fascinating to see how well designed and executed this couch is. Only grumble: Please ask your art department to include women and people of color. (Our marriage is going strong at 52 years because we do things together and prefer art that empowers all people.) Keep up the great work, Ikea!5
Excellent sleeper sofableurebelI just brought this sleeper sofa on Wednesday and had a friend help me put it together that night. It fits perfectly in my little room in my student apartment. I leave out in the sleeper position for comfort. I LOVE THIS SLEEPER SOFA!!!!! BEST MONEY I HAVE EVER SPENT!!!!5
Great For Student City ApartmentotstudentGreat in my SUV to bring to Phildelphia for my daughters 1 bedroom apartment. Looks nice and is to scale for a small space. Comfortable and love the abilty to store things in ottoman. Only complaint we have is the back cushions are not stuffed enought with filling. I bought 2 king size bed pillows and stuffed them in the back and now it has much better support.4
Great couch for a mancaveShelley gBought this last month because we were turning our downstairs office into a man cave for my husband. Perfect fit and He is in love with sitting on it and playing his video games all day and being able to pull out the sofa into a bed for his late night gaming sessions. Wish the back of the sofa was higher as we are a tall family and have to slouch a little for comfort (hence the 4 instead of 5 stars).4
Good couch for the price!jkraisanPurchased this couch for my home office. I put this together by myself over the course of a few hours. The directions were fairly easy to follow and all pieces were easy to identify. The couch is pretty firm. It doesn't bother me, but it isn't super comfortable. Not a couch that I would want to have in my living room, but perfect for the space I have.3
