First IKEA piece of furniture and I’m impressed. JohnI bought this to display my daughters Lego builds. It came in 3 boxes. Which given the weight, made sense. The instructions were straightforward and I was really impressed on the packaging. This was my first iKEA purchase and I was happy nothing was damaged. I did have to use a scrap piece of wood and a hammer to coax few of the pieces together for the last little bit. Also, the instructions state to mount it to the wall.. do not skip this part. This item will tip over when both of the doors are open. Overall I was impressed and will definitely consider buying other stuff in the future. 5
Love it!!!My-LyLoved this cabinet so much I went back for a second one! It holds so much and feels sturdy. It was easy to assemble, some parts required a little extra muscle, but it seems durable. Love the glass doors, great for displaying your stuff and keeping out the dust and pet fur. 5
Cabinet is delicate for its sizeSreenivasulu1. Glass doors are not strong enough and we need to be extremely careful while accessing 2. Not worry for money paid. Outside frame is looking super fragile 3. Interior of cabinet looks good. 4.2
Easy to assemble, beautiful, and sturdyTamikaFirst of all, we purchased this cabinet because we loved the color. We were surprised that the assembly was super easy and that the cabinet was made of wood. It did however take two people to transport the furniture boxes from the truck to the house. The furniture came packaged in a total of 3 large boxes After we assembled the cabinet, we added LED lights to a few of the shelves and that brought it to life. You won’t be disappointed with this purchase, it really is a beautiful piece of furniture.5
Solid construction, appealing looksGreggWe bought 2 of these for our daughter so she could store all her current books in a tidy manner. The styling of these bookcases and the fact they have glass doors made the look all that more pleasing and keeps dust of her books.5
Beautiful looking but has issuesBradleyIt's a beautiful and sturdy cabinet but I have some issues with it. First is that the doors are very heavy compared to the rest of the cabinet so having the doors open makes it highly susceptible to tipping forward. It *needs* to be anchored to a wall. Even when anchored I wouldn't trust it in a household with young children. I would strongly recommend IKEA look into making the glass doors lighter. Second, the back panels need the plastic bits on the side that secure the panels to also have some on the top and bottom. The groove is not good enough to keep the back panels in. Fixed for myself by adding screws into the top and bottom that hold the panel in place. Lastly are the holes for the pegs that hold the shelves. I had to use a hammer to get over half of them in. If you can secure it to the wall and don't have young children, then I would recommend it as long as you are careful with its weight distribution (i.e. nothing heavy in the top half or on top).3
Nice productJianfengLooks great!5
Beautiful well-constructed cabinet.ReneeThe cabinet was delivered on time, not damaged, and pretty easy to put together despite how heavy the pieces were. The craftsmanship was unique and impressive.4
Great ProductJacquelineAbsolutely wonderful cabinets. I am very pleased with them and wasn't that hard for my husband to put together. They are very heavy, sturdy and so well made. I purchased two of these to display my very large doll collection. And it worked out just great!5
Lovely bookcasePatriciaLovely bookcase5
Nice CabinetJanisThis cabinet is rather large and easy to assemble. There is not a myriad of screws but rather pegs and great fit. Impressed with the engineering.5
Great Quality!RachelleLove it to store my Purses!5
Beautiful FurnitureRegianeThis is a very elegant furniture and we are really happy with it. I gave 4 stars for installation because the doors were heavy for me to help my husband. We needed help getting them installed and adjusted. Besides that, what a beautiful unit!5

Exactly what I wantedKymThese are well-made and sturdy. The directions and materials made the process easy to put together. It took two people to put the doors on and adjusting the doors to align correctly was tricky, but not impossible. They are very heavy, but we made sure the braces to the wall were fully secure.5
It feels elegant. I’m constantlyElizabettIt feels elegant. I’m constantly getting compliments on my new cabinet. I love it.5
Could be betterRobertNeeds to be engineered to be stiffer. Doors are hard to adjust from rubbing. Unit needed to be taller, so that each shelf has the same veiwng area. Would love to have unit with frameless glass door's.3
REGISSOR - good value and functionJimI need to learn navigating IKEA to simplify my purchase. The REGISSOR book case is a good value, fairly well made, easy to assemble and sturdy. The finish is weak especially on the doors. some areas thin and need touchup right out of the box. Would purchase again if needed a similar bookcase5
Installation and FitBillWe bought 5 - 3 went together well - 2 appeared to be done on a Friday and did not lime up as well. 1 base piece snapped in half of those 2 and I had to drive to Carson an hour, to get a replacement part.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
