sturdy and looks goodtamThe chair is as expected, easy to put together. Looks nice. I ordered 4 chairs for delivery. However, only 3 was delivered, Ikea just refunded the price of the chair, I had no chance to ask them to deliver the 4th chair upon available delivery fee was $150. I had to buy the 4th chair from a southern CA store, drove it up to Summit County, CO. I'm generally happy with Ikea but this case was bad, I ordered 4 chairs because I need 4 chairs, there was plenty of time between order and delivery, Ikea should have delivered what they sold me.5
Great chairMariaBought six Chairs and they look great with slip covered chairs from Ikea at the ends of the table. A great look with a big wood table at a fraction of the cost.5

PRICE????!!!!!!frustrated10I bought 2 of these chairs the day after Christmas. I only bought 2 because that was all I could afford to spend at the time, as we had just bought a house. My plan was to purchase more now. Only problem is the price has doubled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is the deal IKEA??????!!!!! I bought these chairs literally 2 weeks ago at the store and they were $39. They were not marked sale or anything, so my assumption was that 2 weeks later, they would still be $39......... Come to the website to purchase more and THEY ARE $75!!!!!!. That's insane!! If I had known that was going to happen I would have bought 6 on my credit card to avoid paying double TWO WEEKS LATER! They are otherwise fine chairs but now I have only two and I will not pay $75 for each of another 4. It is nuts that they can change the price like that. I used to like ikea for the price and range of options, but I will take my business elsewhere if they are going to do things like that. I want 4 more chairs at $39 like I thought I could get 2 weeks ago.1
I love these chairs!j321They are so comfortable, plus I love the way the shape of the seat looks!5
They look sooo goodLucas fBought 6 of these to go with the Skogsta table. They go really well together the chairs are sold. The assemble fairly quickly, just takes a while when you have 6. Everyone should definitely get the round seat cushions to go with these. Ikea sells the seat cushions in a couple different colors too.5
Easy to assembleJulesauburnThis chair comes partially assembled and only took a few minutes to put together. While it is a chair with a delicate profile, it is still very comfortable to sit it for periods of time.5
Chair is smallLulu4231Really disappointed in the size of the seat. Thought at first after putting it together is was designed for a child. An adult behind does not fit on the seat which makes it very uncomfortable. Cushions don’t fit well either due to the shape. I would not purchase this again2
Classic LookKClcy26I bought this a few weeks ago to go with a pine top dining table I bought at Ilea as well. I wanted a pop of color to go with the black one I purchased as well- LOVE the color. Easy to assemble and I love the classic colonial look. Very sturdy and for the price it's a good deal. I wish they were still being stocked in store!5
Classic LookKClcy26I purchased this a few weeks ago because it reminded me of the old colonial style chairs. I bought one in black and one in red. Easy to assemble but I wish they were still carrying them in store! Sturdy and great design!5
Great Family Kitchen ChairLandOLakesEvansWe bought six of these chairs for our kitchen table six months ago. I was cautiously optimistic that these chairs would survive daily morning and evening use/brutal beatings from a family of five with a nine year old, six year old, and three year old. These chairs still look new and have aged much better than more expensive chairs from a national furniture store that easily charges three times as much for a similar chair. The chairs are easily cleaned with a damp cloth and, more importantly, easily touched up with a black paint marker. I have only had to touch up one chair after one of the children decided to ram it repeatedly into a wall. I highly recommend these chairs for anyone who wants comfortable wood chairs for a young family. Also, be sure to get furniture felt for the bottoms of the chairs. The felt will keep the chairs from scratching your floors.5
norraryd chairCalifornia SwedeLove the red color. Comfortable chair used in the kitchen.4
Loving the lookKat MackI love the bright ketchup red of these chairs. It adds a pop of color to our dining nook and they are rock solid to sit in. They are cute and practical.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

"I’ve always been fascinated by the way chairs can have so much character, function and beauty. Our Scandinavian design heritage, with its simple materials and expressions, gave inspiration for NORRARYD chair. Organic shapes add personality and comfort. The soft curve of the back embraces you and gives support, while the shaped seat keeps you sitting longer around the dinner table. Hopefully, this is a chair that makes life at home both better and a little more beautiful."
