sleek, bring a hammerMichael M.really like this item. it’s perfect for a closet for extra drawers below the hanging clothes. i second the other reviewer here where you should use a hammer on the last step for the drawers.4
Some of ya"ll have never actually built Ikea furnitureANDREW F.We bought this to match our bedroom despite reading several reviews that it's a nightmare to put together we went ahead and bought it. After laying everything out it is evident that most people haven't actually assembled a piece of IKEA furniture because this is exactly the same as the rest. It took us about 1.5 hours start to finish, so I'm not sure how it's taking some people multiple days? Anyway - it's a beautiful piece once assembled, and honestly pretty decent quality for the price. Don't let the negative reviews sway you. Keep your expectations realistic when buying anything from IKEA and you'll be fine! Happy building.5
Nice color very hard tojazminNice color very hard to put together.1
Great low dresserSallyI bought this for a space in my closet and it fits perfectly I love the length and height and I can still put stuff on top of it. Don’t expect the drawers to hold a lot as they are not too deep.5
Perfect fit!MARKWe didn’t want a traditional dresser - how boring. And we had a nook that it fits into perfectly. And you can sit on it! It’s perfect with pillows on top and lots of space for clothes. Also easy to put together with an ikea drill. I may gild the pulls but so not necessary.5
Perfect but tricky to assembleVirginiaThis little set of drawers is perfect for my needs, and I love the color. Taking off a star because the frame is a little tricky to put together. If you are only 1 person, as I was - on step 13 and 14, attach the long back piece to the already assembled side BEFORE you attach the short side piece. Otherwise you run the risk of cracking it. 😑 Otherwise looks like a solid, heavy piece of furniture that will last a long time.4
Better then i thought.TessaBetter then i thought.5

Normedela TragedyBrittneyThis was a true tragedy....the concept is really nice, and it's beautiful in the store, but unless you have them set it up for you this is a waste of money!!! The directions are pictures, and none of the pieces are labeled. Upon getting steps 1-4 complete, I realized the pieces were backwards. When I began taking the pieces apart, the blue began to chip exposing the plywood base underneath. Material is cheap!! Would not recommend 😕1
Looks amazing....BUT!NicholasYou always hear how bad Ikea stuff is to build, but most furniture just needs a strict adherence to their (bad) instruction books. THIS THING THOUGH..... Jeeze, I build 2 of these in a day but JUST building the drawers took me another 2 days. The plastic clip that hold the front of the drawer to the rest of the drawer is absolutely impossible to use. The plastic clip is designed in such a way that it can only fit in the holes pre-cut in the wood front and the metal sides if they fit EXACTLY right...but inserting one clip means the other side is now not EXACTLY right. At the end of the day, just save yourself immense hassle and frustration and just drill some screws to connect the front of the drawer to the sides of the drawer. This thing looks great, stacking two is about the same size and height as the HEMNES 8-drawer dresser, and despite how small the drawers may feel they actually hold quite a bit of stuff.2
Monitor Stand & Game Console OrganizerFRANCESPerfect height & width for the family room to serve as a monitor stand and game console organizer. The one drawback is that there is a gap in the back of the drawers, so things may fall out if you're not careful.4
Should have some nice walnutJustinShould have some nice walnut mid century legs.4

ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE: DO NOT BUYanschangNORDMELA looks great once it's assembled--and has a nice royal blue color--but getting there is its own circle of h*ll. The product comes in a million different pieces and the instruction booklet is not very clear. The screws needed to construct the dresser are oddly shaped and often don't fit in their corresponding holes. Particleboard shattered if screws weren't aligned exactly right and the product is overall bad quality. Additionally, instead of using screws to put the drawers together, IKEA gives you flimsy plastic clamps to hold them together and the drawers often break apart when you are pulling them out. Building NORDMELA was 3 hours of me and my girlfriend's life that we will never get back. AVOID AT ALL COSTS1
It’s a bench wait it a dresserRob91Absolutely love the look and feel of the nordmella dresser. It was definitely larger than I expected, the perfect width of a queen size bed making it a great footboard, but only if you have large enough of a room. I do not unfortunately and can’t wait until I buy a condo for added square footage because this piece combined with the wood grain malm bed are gorgeous together. There are screw holes at the bottom for these rubber little legs which is nice. I’m eventually going to switch them out for some rose gold furniture legs as I do wish this was about a foot taller and not right on the ground. If you’re like me who have dogs who think they can’t hold it longer than two hours, anything sitting directly on the floor especially composite wood is a no go. I like that it’s versatile. I’m thinking about painting the metal handles to match but right now I like how it all is this gorgeous deep blue. My ONE complaint is this line isn’t bigger. I want end tables. There’s blue doors I believe for besta and the wardrobes that match but the wardrobe has a diamond pattern added to it. I’m just obsessed with this deep blue color and wanna see more options. If I could get the malm bed in this color I’d have already upgraded to a king size haha.5
Gorgeous and sturdy dresserPaohillaWe got this dresser for our master bedroom, we have our tv on it a d use the drawers for extra storage. It gives the space the perfect look while been very sturdy as well. It gives it a very chic and modern look.5
Front of Drawers falls offesans10I didn’t even bother putting this dresser in my house. The front of drawers is supposed to be held to the rest of the drawer with a plastic clip. Every time you pull to open the drawer the front falls off. This is arguably the worst piece of furniture I have ever gotten for myself. I probably could find a more sturdy piece at a trash dump.1
Attention to DetailTexasTumbleweedHere's the thing about the NORDMELA 4-drawer dresser: You've GOT to pay attention to the details in the instructions. I stumbled on the drawer assembly at first, but in context, I'd been doing some heavy duty cleaning and moving prior to even opening the boxes. I had to clear the space in my tiny apartment first. I was tired. I was sore. This is the second IKEA build I've done in a week's time. Tired. Sore. Sweaty. Then the drawers. I stumbled at Step 34 because I couldn't get the stupid sides to click all the way into place. It was because I was doing it backwards. The lip on the back panel of the drawer points OUTSIDE of the drawer, not inside. I was so exhausted by that point that I'd overlooked it and taken to the internet to find answers. It was right there in the instruction book, though. Attention to details could have saved me 25 minutes. At Step 40, you really do need a hammer. I used a hammer and my flathead screwdriver. Three mild taps and it was a done deal. The remaining three drawers were assembled in less than 5 minutes apiece. Also, the drawers are not all uniform. They are designed for specific sides of the dresser. I managed to put both of the right side drawers in the left side before realizing when I tried to put the first left drawer in the right side that I'd gotten them backwards. I was exhausted. I took one star off of product quality because the pre-drilled holes for the connector screws started coming apart way too easily if I didn't hand-screw the screws gently at first before using a screwdriver or drill, and several of them didn't sink straight into the panels at 90 degrees, making it a little challenging to get the pieces aligned just right.5
Great dresserTupapaI love how it looks and the finishing touches. I just wish it was taller.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill waste – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a valuable resource instead of being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look. The day your sofa or bed needs replacing, the material in the particleboard can be recycled into something entirely new.
