One easy add to cardboard backDavidEither ‘print image of ‘or (ideally) punch pinholes along perimeter edge of cardboard sheet that covers back of dresser so that locating nail location is easier.4
Bigger than expected, great forMarianaBigger than expected, great for a lot of clothes.4
Terrible productKikinaThe appearance of this chest is sleek but unless you are buying this piece just as a decorative piece, I can't recommend it, the material starts falling apart after a few uses, the drawers fall from the rails. I didn't spect this to happen, I am really dissappointed.1
Very nice looking and an easy build.DudleyWhen we down sized, we chose IKEA furniture as our best bet. I have assembled quite a bit of IKEA over the last few years. I have never been shorted parts or hardware and the instructions are easy to follow. This piece is one of the easier one that I have done. My wife loves the look. I give it 5 stars.5
NiceLoriGreat medium size chest for the guest room!5
Great productKayzeeI have previously bought two of the same product. The updates that have been made to this one are great. The instructions are easier to follow and the adjustments that were made so that the bottom of the drawers don't come off are wonderful.5
Great dealTiffanySturdy affordable dresser for my son5
Attention SplintersShirinI don’t get all these great reviews on this product. Assembly was straight forward but gosh I was so scared of getting splinters with every piece I touched. Every single piece is full of small wood particles. Then today I was putting a pair of jeans inside the second drawer when the back of my hand scratched against the back of the upper drawer and I got two splinters. So it’s not even safe when assembled. So so disappointing! I bought this to replace the Tarva dresser, because I needed more space and I liked the look of it inside my closet but the Tarva dresser is solid wood and has a very smooth surface. I wish they would have offered Malm in solid wood. Also drawers are not that smooth. My Tarva drawers glide far better. Now I have to go through the hassle of returning this bulk of dresser. Sigh!!!2
Great lookAndres A.I like how looks in my bedroom, I love it!!5
Malm 4 Drawer DresserElaineThe dresser was relatively easy to put together if you follow all steps accurately. The quality of this product is excellent and highly recommend it. We have placed 2 of these in our walk-in closet.5
It has so much spaceJeannetteI like it4
Perfectly versatileBrenda D.I’ve now purchased four of these dressers. The first two were for me in my NYC apartment and these last two were for my son who is in film school in LA. His bedroom in the rental house is huge (16x18) and needed enough storage for his plethora of folded clothes but wanted furniture versatile enough to fit in another (smaller) room configuration after he graduates. Right now he has the two dressers side by side with a large tv mounted on the wall above them.5
Sturdy and ReliableEdwardVery nice, easy to assemble, sturdy. Only issue I had is with the drawers (wheels and track) but otherwise really good5

Very pleasedHila A.Great product5
Choice of DrawersSusanThese are great; just the simplicity we wanted without sacrificing something else. The assembly took a while but not because it was difficult. Just wanted to take our time. Did have to tweak the roller track on one side of two of the drawers but nothing unusual or major. Color choice was great. we have it in our large bathroom to hold extra towels and sheets since we have no linen closet. The process could not have been better.5
Bent railsRobertBent rails so one of the drawers does not close properly. This is my first time buying furniture from Ikea. Its unlikely Ill do this again.1
Not a good productIsaacI was very disappointed with this product. I should have spent more time to research and for a little more money, I believe I could have purchased a better product. It may serve a purpose, but it it over priced and very cheaply made!! Not sure how long it will last.1
OverpricedLillianaWow! Ikea prices have dramatically increased! That is why I am giving 3 stars. I couldn’t believe it cost &200! I have purchased these drawers before at a much lower price. I went to IKEA to purchase two but bc of the price I had to settle on one. It was relatively easy to put together and looks sleek.3
weak wood materialHyunmiWhile I was moving it after assembling it, the thin and long piece of wood in the body between the drawers broke in half. It had only one side of the vinyl coating, so it was very weak. I called the customer center and I was able to take everything, but the customer center said that I only needed to bring the damaged parts, so I only took them, but the store said that I had to bring all the products for a complete replacement, and that if I brought only the parts, only the broken parts could be replaced. . As you can see, I have to dismantle an already assembled product to replace the parts, which is a lot of work. To use this product, I spent 7 or 8 hours, including purchase and exchange days. I had to take responsibility for what the customer service representative I spoke to said incorrectly. And the newly received part was coated on all sides, so unlike the broken part, it was strong. I wonder why they didn't make it this way in the first place. Disappointing in many ways.1

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
