Great productKarinaI have previously bought two of the same product. The updates that have been made to this one are great. The instructions are easier to follow and the adjustments that were made so that the bottom of the drawers don't come off are wonderful.5
Solid and looks great!TEDReasonably priced, nice design, good color, better than expected! All you have to do is patiently following the instructions, carefully assemble all pieces. Try not to use power tools which wouldn't save much time but may cause damages by over tightening the screws to the boards.5

Product quality has definitely gone down...CRYSTAOrdered this piece to match some of my other MALM pieces in a bedroom and it looks completely different. Besides that, assembly was not as easy as it was previously and my drawers stick a bit. This would be my 3rd version of this dresser but I'm not a fan of this one versus my older versions so I'm saying the product quality has gone down over the years.3
DresserPASCUALINAGood quality.5
Dont buy.Mychele B.Ive been using these dressers for years maybe even decades. Quality has totally gone down. Put together pretty easy but the drawers wont slide in and out easily, wont fully close wont open and for the money and ever changing higher price tag its jus not worth the trouble. For the money i paid plus a little bit more I could have gotten a much better quality product. Never again.1
Not as great as I remembered...MelinaI've had MALM drawers before, all different sizes, but this one felt not as sturdy and overall flimsy in comparison to it's past versions. Overall, not satisfied with the product but alas I can't trade this one in for something else (IKEA doesn't trade drawers). I'll keep this until I can replace with something of better quality, mostly like not an IKEA product.2
Mismatched PanelsMILAGROSThe boxes had mismatched panels. It is supposed to have a left and a right panel for the 2 sides. But the box contained 2 panels for the same side. I had to call IKEA to send me the correct opposite panels, which they did. After getting a handyman to assemble, the cost added up. I would’ve been better off buying a dresser already assembled. Approximate cost is the same but without the hassle. For those who are unable to carry heavy loads or for seniors, I recommend that you buy furniture that is already assembled.4
Good old fashioned malms hold everythingInnaStandard dresser. I needed a lot of drawers in new apartment. I got 3 malms. You can’t get 12 drawers for that proce anywhere. Harder to assemble these days and the drawers aren’t as smooth. But overall a good deal.4
3 starKaveriDrawers are not smooth.3
Clean look & deep drawersMARKI love the 3 drawers chest as nightstands. My bed is tall so they are perfect height . The added storage is a plus. Pjs, socks, workout clothes and lingerie. Perfect for books, meds, glasses and etc. in the top drawer.5
Drawer close/open aren’t smoothSammiI got it for my closet but drawer opening and closing are not smooth as I expected.3
black chest of drawersJoyIt was easy to put together but the black color is not painted. It is a type of covering on the front of the drawers that could easily be peeled off if it is not correctly adhered. Two of the four drawers were like this.3
Great value for your dollarJESSICAThe malm is a staple dresser. Can be used in & tied with numerous different styles. Drawers are deep and spacious. Easy to assemble. Highly recommend!5
I like because the drawersTaraI like because the drawers out deep inside.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
