Very good quality and sturdyBrendaVery good quality and sturdy bookcase.5
Sturdy with Classic StyleNanelleWhen it comes to furniture that requires assembly, I have found that IKEA is very reliable and I have never had broken or missing pieces. The instructions are simple and straightforward. The bookcase is beautiful and I like that it will hold more weight that the other IKEA bookcases. My only complaint … why only white? I would have preferred the black-brown or a wood tone. It’ll get painted one day.5
Higher end IKEA bookshelvesLynneLong time Billy bookshelf owner - the Liatorp is definitely a step up in quality and style. They fit it well with the traditional style of our home. Assembly was a bit more involved due to the height and moldings, but worth it. Helped to have two people. Only negative is that the pre-drilled holes limit where you can place your shelves, which makes the lower ones larger and upper ones tighter than we'd like. But absolutely love these bookshelves!5
A great pieceDerekWe love the look of this shelf in our new house. All of the design makes the shelf stand out.5
Elegant and well designedKalebWonderful bookcase. Easy to put together. May need two people to be safer but I managed by myself. It is much taller than most other bookcases so make sure it can get into the door and the room you want it in. Bought three and connected all together. A minor issue is that the third one in line seems to be off. I bought the glass doors but on that case, I just can’t get the doors aligned no matter how much I adjust the hinges. No problems whatsoever with the other two. Doors were perfect out of the box.5
Beautiful bookcaseSUSANI couldn't be happier with this purchase! I love the beadboard detailing on the inside of the bookcase. Extra bonus: it's tall enough to maximize wall space so I can store more books. Not overly complicated to put together, but make sure you assemble it in the room where it will end up. It would be hard to move it once assembled because of the height.5
Nice set of shelvesWILLIAMWe bought a pair of the bookshelves. Initially saw them in Atlanta while up there for a Braves game.
Did not have a way of getting them back home.
We ended up using my sons pick up and driving a couple of hours to the Jacksonville store to purchase.
The shelves are well constructed, look nice, and fit our needs. The first one took some time to figure out assembly. The second one took less than 1/2 the time as we had a better idea of what we were doing.
Thrilled with these beautiful cabinets.JeniferWhen Ikea started to deliver to Camano Island (2 hrs away from the nearest store) I jumped on it and bought 2. The directions were well written and although there were lots of pieces, they all fell into place. I added tiny nail sliders to the bottom of it instead of the useless felt pcs it came with so I could slide it on carpet, but other than that I love them. It almost reaches my ceiling and holds a lot.5
Missing shelveshadia l.Bought 2 bookcases. Came with 4 shelves vs 6 shelves. Attempted to get 2 other shelves for each bookcase and was not successful. Tried calling customer service, tried going into physical store and still no luck. I even attempted to pay for the missing shelves and still no luck. Very disappointing and frustrating. It is not what I saw on display nor in pictures on the box.1
This is the ideal wallJINXIAThis is the ideal wall shelf I could expect, esp considering of price. Two person shall be very easy to install. Love it.5
Perfect for my need!JamesI bought and assembled three of these and put them side-by-side for my office books. I couldn’t be happier with the result! I have three Hemnes bookcases at home, but needed something different for my work office and the Liatorp fit the bill (and it was in stock). These were more expensive than the Hemnes, but are much taller and hold more books. I love how the side-by-side application works in the instruction manual. This is a well throughout product!5
Great Value for the $DavidGreat product, easy assembly, quality. Great value for the price. We purchased two & will be purchasing two more.5
BookcasesDonnaI love my LiaTorp bookcases couldn’t have found a better product for the space and with the assistance of TaskRabbit who built and secured all to my wall my library is now a work in progress if I had more wall space I’d buy more of these bookcases great product for the value5

Liatorp Glass Front CabinetGayleWell worth the money spent on this beautiful cabinet for all of my Chanel and LV bags. It’s so classy looking in my bedroom.5
LovelyKimberlyI love this bookshelf. It is super sturdy and well built.5
Very beautiful!NinaBeautiful, quality furniture. More durable and heavier than I expected. (Waiting for help to hang the center bridge!) It’s way better than typical particleboard and has a beautiful finish. Instructions were easy to follow, all holes were present and aligned, and all pieces were present. This was a housewarming gift to my daughter, who has wanted it for years, and it did not disappoint. It’s a beautiful piece of furniture that will be enjoyed for many years.5
Our take on wood
Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.
Forests are critical for life on earth
Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.
100% wood from more sustainable sources
At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.
IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030
As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.
We accomplish more by working together
For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.
What is particleboard?
Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill waste – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a valuable resource instead of being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look. The day your sofa or bed needs replacing, the material in the particleboard can be recycled into something entirely new.
The finishing touch
The decorative strip on the bookcase is one of the details that gives LIATORP its distinct country styling. But the decorative strips have a practical function too. You can use them to join two or more bookcases. This makes them appear as one continuous bookcase with a long decorative strip, like a custom-made bookcase, built by a carpenter!
"LIATORP series consists of furniture in a romantic country style with beautiful, delicate details and shapes. All the pieces work as solitaires, of course. But you can also join the bookcases using a cornice and toekick rail to create an integrated look. You can give your bookcase a different character by choosing to complement with doors - ordinary doors, glass doors or a combination of both! I hope that LIATORP will be a lifelong love."
