Exactly what I neededJeanneI needed a sturdy surface for my sewing machine but since I like to work standing, it had to be adjustable. I was a bit hesitant because of the price but I'm glad I purchased them anyway (they are sold separately, about $50 each). There are cheaper options for the top. It worked out perfectly for me because the peddle for my machine has a short cord and it can now rest on the shelf of the Mittback instead of a stool or box. I did sand and coat the wood prior to assembly since the wood is unfinished (I noticed the display model in IKEA was a bit dirty) and it really brought out the color of the wood.5
