Comfortable and lightweightIrinaIf you like day naps and just sit with you feet’s up it’s prefect . Enough space for medium size person, also it’s fits at least 3 people. I put some pillows under top cover and it’s like soft sofa. It’s great for summer outdoors, kitchen, kids room, and more. Low cost.Highly recommended 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠5
I love it!!!!DianeThis is just what I needed. I live alone and needed something inexpensive. It is very well made and easy to assemble. I was worried since I am a larger person. My only problem is that the front rail puts pressure on the back of my legs. So I dressed it up a bit by putting outdoor chair cushions on it. Problem solved. It would be nice if you could choose a different color cover without having to pay extra.5
It was not what ILANETTEIt was not what I thought it was,1
The most uncomfortable couch in historySuzannahKBought this yesterday. Not only was it the most difficult piece of IKEA furniture I have ever assembled, but it is also the most uncomfortable piece of IKEA furniture I have ever experienced. I am going to take it back, fully assembled, so keep an eye out in the as-is section. To be fair, they do recommend two people put it together, but many of IKEA's pieces recommend that. But I cannot get over how uncomfortable it is.1
Not comfortable, but very sturdyCateVanI've been sitting and laying on this couch since April of '19. It's absolutely not comfortable. There is no padding and isn't great for long term lounging - your butt will get sore. Overall it is very sturdy and was easy to assemble. But because there is no padding I can't recommend this to anyone for use as a main couch.2
Great for the price!LindsaydbNot the most comfortable sofa but super cute and I totally love it with a bunch of pillows!5
A great additionLaura NVPurchased this for my daughter's 4th grade classroom, it is in their Zen Zone. If selected for the day they can sit or lay down for their 10 mins. The students still can't believe it is for their use.5
Cheap, but not comfortableAT and SF JohnThis fit into my budget, but it is the least comfortable IKEA product I own. I wish the cushion was about 4x thicker. It’s like sitting on wood. Otherwise, nice style.2
Please remember that this a $150 sofa.AnnodynamicI bought this sofa in January I like the style and the ability to remove the cover for washing. After many naps on this thing I can vouch that it is very much like a hammock as opposed to a real sofa. I would go as far as to liken it to a sleeping cot and a hammock's love child. If you need some affordable furnishings that look good buy this! Also, two people should be present for assembly but a single person can do it with lots of swearing and a cold beer. Finally, I rated this three stars opposed to four because one cannot buy a replacement cover.3
SofaMariaPadillaI bought this a month ago and I'm so happy we purchase the sofa I love the color and the style....4
Great for the price!NakamaI bought this sofa about a year ago and it's holding up to everyday use. Mind that you will need some pillows for your back, I also got a few of the ottomans Ikea sells separately for comfort. Besides that, this sofa is standing up to me and my pets. I love you can take off the cover and wash it. I hope I can find extra covers in other colors sold separately so I can pretend I got a new sofa every few months!5
Super Uncomfortable... The first sit is a doozy!kln22I bought this for a seating area in my office because it was cheap, but I still expected slightly better. The hammock style sling that supports the seat is not very supportive, and your butt almost goes to the floor while a metal bar is keeps your knees up. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it looks nice and is easy to assemble... And cheap.2
Perfect 3 seater sofa for studio.Bluejay760For the price it is a okay sofa. The dimensions of this 3 seat Knopparp sofa is considerably less than a standard sized seat or full sized sofa. Note: Trying to fit the retail box of the Knopparp Sofa in a standard car is almost impossible. I do not recommend due to driving safely. A truck is highly recommend. The construction of the sofa was brutal with the support of 2 people building it. The steel frame required a lot of finesse even more patients were required while adjusting with the polypropylene tarp and aligning the screw and holes together while using the manual tool-key provided. Note: If the unit looks wobbly or sunk-in after the final quilt material is draped over, the the frame needs to be tighten more. Make sure ALL screws are super tight. This will tighten the polypropylene tarp under-layer. You will know will know when the unit is tightened enough when the quilt overlay fits snugly without wrinkles and should feel a light bounce when you gently sit on it. The sofa is comfortable for its price range as long as the unit is properly put together. The sofa should give a light bouce feedback with gentle movment. From visual inspection, the unit should hold up a fair amount of weight and should last for a couple of years if no rough horseplay is conducted upon it. A few throw pillows are recommended. Overall, Noting that this sofa is considerably less money than a sofa or loveseat in same class, The Knopparp is a good value. It’s fairly comfortable with a few throw pillows. However it is not as comfortable as a unit 3 times the price of the Knopparp . I highly recommend the Knopparp for studio dwellers.3

Comfort without the extra padding

For KNOPPARP sofa, less is more. We’ve stretched the fabric over the metal frame, making the need for foam unnecessary. Using less material, yet keeping it comfortable and sturdy.

An easy-to-carry innovator

All IKEA products have affordability as a key part of their design, but we create certain products from the beginning to be especially so. We call them "breath-taking items" or BTIs. "We'd tried to make a BTI sofa before," product developer Jerry Svensson explains, "but never got the price right.” So when creating KNOPPARP, the team had to try something completely different. Who would’ve thought that the inspiration would come from a trampoline?

So, where is the money spent when making a sofa? “The biggest expenses come in three parts,” says Jerry. “The wood needed to make a frame, the fixtures you need to put the sofa together, and the foam to make it comfortable."

A jump in the right direction

Walking home one day, engineer Gerd Rodhe could see his neighbor's kids stretched out relaxing on a trampoline. He realized that stretching a fabric between a metal frame would make a comfortable seat without expensive materials. Jerry picks up the story. "We started breaking down what we needed to make a sofa without adding a high cost to the final price. We landed on using a metal frame, the trampoline-like seat, and to cut down on foam we developed a fabric cover that's quilted for comfort." Also, most of the screws were swapped for metal parts that can click together making the sofa easy to assemble.

Light, easily carried – and sustainable

KNOPPARP should be easy to transport, too. "It became almost like a competition to work out different ways to divide it so the packaging became smaller,” Jerry says. We ended up with a packaging light and small enough to make it easier to bring home. Jerry's proudest moment with KNOPPARP though is its sustainability. One part of this is that we’ve used as little material as possible, but the sofa is still strong and durable and will serve you for many years. "It’s almost completely recyclable, too, making it a real innovator for more sustainable sofas in the future."

Designer thoughts

“Just as comfortable as lying on your back on a trampoline! Once we got the idea of using the same technology as in trampolines for KNOPPARP sofa we were able to develop the form very quickly. The really big challenges came later. Besides the attractive design, the sofa should also have a low price, be good from an environmental perspective be packaged so smartly that it could be taken home on a bus and be easy to assemble, robust and easy to keep clean. The result is a sofa that exudes honesty – what you see is what you get.”
