The large drawers have space for extra comforters, pillows, linens or other things you need to store, but want to have close at hand.

The high frame creates a cozy cocoon feeling, and is lacquered so that it's easy to maintain.

Took a while to putLaurenTook a while to put together, but I'm a 38 year old woman with kiddos and was able to assemble this alone without too much fuss. Its so sturdy and holding up just fine under all the use its already getting. We're really enjoying it. We use ours as a couch and bed and its working out wonderfully .5
Own 2 of theseBARBARAWe liked the first Hemmes so much at the lake house that when my daughter bought her house I suggested it for her guest room. It give a comfortable sleep when pulled out into a bed and with the 3 drawers of storage it is an added bonus. It is sturdy.5
Day bed doesn’t slideMarielaIt’s so hard to switch from sofa to bed or bed to sofa .1
Love it, but one thing...Rachel W.I have a small bedroom that I was redoing so I figured this would be the perfect daybed for me. The mattresses are comfy, I love the layout. However, when my boyfriend was putting it together (he's great with assembling stuff...unlike me) he was short over 12 screws! And since the holes were already drilled into the wood and other hardware, he couldn't use the screws he had at home. We went back and forth to Home Depot 3 different times to get the right screws. And I had this shipped to me, the nearest Ikea is 2+ hours away, so we couldn't just stop in the store and ask for replacement screws. So, make sure if you buy this, to count the number of screws and read the directions to make sure you have enough!4
Nice price and qualityVeroniqueMy daughter 14 years old assembled it herself and loves it5
Great bed for priceBARBARALove the bed! Looks great. Only thing I would say is the mattresses are extremely firm. We could always get a thicker softer one for main bed, knowing that the mattresses would be uneven when bed is expanded. Ok if just using for guests. The assembly was assembled by IKEA , or rather Task Rabbit. They sent a very young couple. I asked them if they ever assembled anything like this. They said no. (I thought oh no!). It took them 2.5 hours. More money than I thought it would cost me in assembly. Other than that. Very happy.5
Great bed , but …..AMINASuper nice and sturdy bed . Perfect for small spaces , however the ONLY negative is once you pull out the bed at night , it’s not as smooth and easy to close it back . Sometimes the wood pieces aren’t aligned …. So that’s the only thing we are not so happy about . UNLESS we are not doing it right . The display in stores opens and closes super smoothly , Our gets stuck Assembly was a nightmare , thanks to YouTube videos It took us severance hours …. I wish IKEA had an official YouTube channel with step by step assembly for all their products3
Comfort and CuteWendyBed has great storage and looks great anywhere! Comfortable. Only suggestion is thicker mattress which is available.(brings the price up a little more)4
HEMNES DaybedDonnaWe love this bed, and so do our six grandkids! The bed was bought to go in the room that they sleep in when they are staying over night. When not in use (expanded) it closes up nice and neat. It gives a nice appearance to the room. My husband and I put the bed together with relative ease.5
Hemnes daybedCreeLove this bed! Needed more space in my sons room(who left for college). It easily converts to a king when he comes home or we have guests. It’s just what we were looking for.5
Love it!JaniceGreat storage and My 6’5” son slept in it over the holidays and said it was comfy!5
P.O.S.Mark L.They can’t even bother to drill out the holes completely. Multiple similar pieces with minuscule differences to lead you down a trail of anger. Instructions were poor. Had to deconstruct several times. Flimsy parts are only supported once the entire bed is completed - this means driving screws into something with no support. Bed planks are held in by….gravity. They kept falling out while trying to fix other problems.1
Perfect for the size of here room!CHISTINEWe purchased this for a smaller bedroom in our house. It fits perfectly and is quite comfortable!4
Great bedJosephNot too bad to put together. Good bed, great size as twin pushed in and when extended it is king size.5
PerfectYANINAI love it! I think is perfect for my space area and design …. I’m a woman 4’11 skinny and I assembled it myself with no help!5
Works well on hard flooringMeredithBeautiful piece of furniture. Drawers are very spacious and the beds are comfy. The only slight criticism I have is that the trundle is not easy to roll out if the bed is on carpet.4
Excellent bed, easy assemblyCHARLESThis bed is a valuable asset to have in your house. Very good quality, easy to assemble and plenty of storage in the large drawers beneath the bed. It pulls out to the size of a queen with plenty of room for pillows and accessories. Very impressed.5
Sturdy, compact, bedding and storageRobert R.Sturdy, compact, bedding and storage unit all in one. Looks great, it is very comfortable and my grandchildren love it.5
Practical well made solutionJohnThis bed was fairly easy to put together, seems well constructed, and is comfortable to sleep on. Although we won’t need to use it pulled out often, having that option as well as the storage drawers makes it a practical solution for us.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is fiberboard?

Fiberboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fiberboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are – and this determines what we use them for. So regardless if it’s a bed, a wardrobe or your new bathroom cabinet, the leftover wooden fiber becomes a resource instead of going to waste.
