Product details

The sturdy solid pine frame has natural variations in grain, color and texture, giving every piece a unique look. And it has been stained and lacquered making it more durable and easy to care for.

You can sit up comfortably in bed thanks to the high headboard – just prop some pillows behind your back and you will have a comfortable place to read or watch TV.

Beautiful craftsmanship all the way around. Why not place it in the middle of the room to create impact?

There’s plenty of space under the bed for storage boxes – great for stowing extra duvets and sheets.

The high footboard keeps bed textiles from falling onto the floor while you sleep.

Adjustable bed sides allow you to use mattresses of different thicknesses.

17 layer-glued slats adjust to your body weight and increase the suppleness of the mattress.

Queen mattress doesn't fit in queen bed frameWendy A.The bed looks beautiful and feels sturdy, and I haven't had any problems with squeaking like other people have mentioned. But the biggest problem is that the frame is too short for a queen mattress. My mattress is wedged so tightly against the headboard and footboard that changing the sheets is a huge pain, I can barely wrestle the sheets onto the mattress between them. There's no chance of my duvet fitting between the mattress and footboard like it's supposed to, so I have to just leave it hanging over the top of the footboard, which looks weird. I would be thrilled with this bed if it was made to comfortably fit a queen mattress, but it isn't.3

Has lasted 7 years so far!Alana H.We love this bed! We've had a white king version for 7 years and it is still in really good shape. It maybe creaks if you move very forcibly on it but normal bed movement is silent. I came on here to look into purchasing another for our guest room. I have all the coordinating Hemnes pieces and have really liked them all. However, keep in mind that this one is a stain and so if you buy the tables you'll want to make sure if you want them to be a 100% match you get the stained version. I don't love the stained version in the dressers - Much prefer the shellacked white.5
Good, solid bed frame.JONGood, solid bed frame.5
The perfect bed!Amanda M.This entire collection is amazing. The bed is absolutely beautiful, and looks expensive. Love it so much!5
sturdy, holding up wellNeilwent together well. There are a couple options for the location of the rails which impact mattress height. Would be nice to know beforehand as after assembly, we dropped them and its much easier as the edges are cleaner. We used an original mattress factory mattress with it and there's a couple inches of memory foam on each side so dropping it allows the bottom to hide and we can tuck sheets in a bit cleaner. The wood itself is quite sturdy and we've avoided scratches from dogs so far.5

Full Size Hemnes BedADELEH F.It's a pretty sturdy bed. I wish it had more material to comfortably fit mattresses that are over 10 inches thick. Mine is 14 inches.4
Weak metal frame bent out of shapeNick W.I've only had the bed for a couple of months, and the metal frame has already bent out of shape and the mattress fell thrown. The design is pretty flawed holding the entire bed support in the center on a single metal bar. I would not recommend buying this bed frame to anyone!1
Great Bed FrameGissette M.I’ve had this bed frame in brown since 2011. The bed is still in perfect condition, super sturdy, doesn’t move, no squeaks… just absolutely great quality. I am getting rid of it because I am redecorating my room and want white furniture so I repurchased the same bed in white. I’m really hoping the same great quality is still there.5
The bed frame and qualityCarlosThe bed frame and quality are very good I will recommend to anyone5
Awesome Bed Frame!UrielThe bed is made of grate quality and would recommend this bed. A little pricy but I like the look.4
Sturdy bed with good designHyun S.I like its simple and neat design. also it is very sturdy.5
Queen Dark Gray Stained HemnesJordanEasy to assemble. Gives a "better" feel/look to a room than just a plain Malm bed frame. High enough off the ground to store stuff under the frame.5
Love itByronLove it5
Scratches on the headboardmarcosThe bed is amazing the material I like it but it has a big scratch on the head housed in the front size it seems that it comes like this from fabric and also 2 of the screws didn’t fit in the same headboard piece , it took me about two hours to assemble and I follow the steps from a YouTube video that was very helpful but is not an ikea video3
Bed Slats Lasted 8 yearsCaroline B.I really wanted to like this bed for decades. My son used their frame from ages 2- 10 yrs old. The slats started falling through the frame, and so lying on the bed would be super uncomfortable. I have continued to put the slats back in place, tighten screws of the frame, and tried everything to keep this frame. I will keep trying.2

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the tree species, it is durable, beautiful and renewable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood.
