Great dresserTracy M.Love this dresser!! It is the perfect height and width for my space. Assembly was not bad, just wish a few extra drawer screws had been included. They got stripped very easily5
Nice and lots of drawer spaceSusan R.Not hard to put together and very nice and sturdy with lots of drawer space. Love it!5
Sags. Good for a year or so.STHEPHANY V.I love the look and size of this dresser. Unfortunately, its a temporary piece as it begins to sag in the middle as time goes on. There is only one support piece in the middle of the dresser (not visible) which I believe is the reason for the issue as it’s not enough to support the weight of the drawers. The drawers currently do not close flush due to the bowing middle. I wish I would have got two 3-drawer hemnes dressers instead so I would have had the 6 larger drawers with 8 legs supporting the weight.1
Not a good qualityMelanie L.When we open the box 2 doors already broken, i have to go back to Ikea to replace the two door, drawers are noisy when opening2
Worth every dollarHema C.Putting this together was a task there was so many pieces, honestly wished I had paid the extra 100. Lol however it was worth the money, it's very good quality, easy to clean, looks absolutely beautiful.5
Update after 2 yearsDarry M.I bought this dresser back in 2021 and I think after a little bit of use the middle of my dresser started to sag in the middle. The back of the dresser has also warped and is not sitting flush to the other sides. Just poor quality unfortunately. If the wood didn't warp/sag, it would be a beautiful piece. Not worth the price imo :(1
BEAUTIFUL DRESSER HORRIBLE INSTURCTIONSAva L.It took two whole days. Multiple reassembles instructions on this dresser is horrible. Like Ts was written by someone who didn't know English but was learning English, but wasn't at all there yet jus slappin words about dresser assembly around that's really what it felt like reading them. But the dresser is soo pretty and big its not worth putting together yourself tho Jus pay for assembly rs4
Love it!!sandra B.I have 3 because that’s how good they are! Solid dressers.5
Well with the money!!!Janet F.The Hemnes dresser has to be the greatest buy you can get any where. Fairly easy to put together, with the smoothest drawers and looks fabulous with any style of other furniture. Wish I made this decision sooner. My only recommendation to IKEA is to LABEL ALL PARTS IN THE INSTRUCTIONS.5
Good enoughnuo l.The size is good.4
Horrible QualityLindsay S.Purchased the gray dresser and it is the worst quality. Some of the drawers are unaligned and the ones that fit well have to be pushed hard to go in. The dresser also scratches so easily leaving the brand new product already looking like literal junk. Such a waste of money.1
Decent DresserELISA E.This is my 3rd HEMNES dresser. My others were white and I decided to get a gray one this time. It’s wonderful for storage. I only gave it 3 stars because the finish isn’t as nice as the white ones I had. This one does not have a smooth surface. I guess that’s why IKEA sells the glass top for it, which I didn’t buy.3
It looks great. Directions a little confusing.Diane W.Looks great5
Big drawersChristal T.Love this dressers and the big drawers5
DisappointmentLaura K.We have other Hemnes dressers but this was somehow felt cheaper and poorer quality than a few we’ve had for years without issue.1
Beautiful but with standard IKEA issuesLauren W.Took me about 8 hours over 2 days to assemble (I did it alone and was distracted by the TV) but the biggest time suck was typical IKEA: the pre-made holes didn’t always line up. The assembly isn’t difficult I just spent a lot of time assembling and reassembling, making new holes, using a shim to make grooves wider so pieces would actually fit, etc. It’s still a bit visually wonky all assembled but passable. It feels a little flimsy fully built so I’d recommend using wood glue for support, having a solid back piece cut instead of using the provided particle board and lots of spare nails and screws on hand. You’ll absolutely strip or bend the ones provided. Tighten screws a little less than you would usually for a piece of furniture this massive because the wood WILL split. I’d planned to paint it anyway, but the veneer on the gray color scratches easily. Also, the drawer tracks are an absolute nightmare, so I’ll probably replace with soft close in the future.3
Great dresser!Nilsa B.Lots of drawers for storage, highly recommend.5
Hemnes DresserRobbie C.While this piece is solid wood, our gray dresser had several patched holes/knots which are very noticeable on the top of the dresser. Since we bought this at a store over two hours away returning is not an option. I specifically wanted a wooden dresser so that it was not disposable. Disappointed to say the least.3
Solid PieceValeria R.Love the color, looks great in the room, has plenty of storage. Worth the price!4
Perfect fitCathy M.Looking for something that would fit in a short walled bedroom. Found this and it's a perfect fit, for the room and my clothes!5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the tree species, it is durable, beautiful and renewable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood.
