I absolutely love this dresserJacquelineI absolutely love this dresser and store!!5

Worst Ikea Piece EverSarah N.My home is filled with Ikea furniture, dating back to my first bookcase purchase in 1998. I have never experienced such a nightmare as this dresser. Holes were off causing challenges, the drawers do not slide smoothly and are crooked and uneven. Ikea has clearly gone down in quality. Sure I can return it but I’ll never get back the four hours of my life trying to put it together.1
Love itKeziahThis dresser is great. My only complaints are the deepest drawer not being the bottom drawer, and the drawers not having quiet close mechanisms. Also might change the knobs for silver ones at some point. Otherwise, I’m very happy we made the purchase!4
few screw holes off center.danfew screw holes off center. inter boards for drawer sliders warped. fixed it myself. first time this happenned with any of your furniture5
Mostly perfectDavidWe bought this one before and it lasted a few years before we realized we should have tightened the screws more or glued them in. Let’s home this one lasts longer. It’s a good looking piece.5
We had no issues puttingDonnaWe had no issues putting this piece together.5
Love ItLeroyThis is the second one I purchased. Have purchased 10 other pieces in the past.5

You definitely need two peopleTamaraYou definitely need two people to build this I did it by myself because I am not good at working with someone when building furniture but it would have gotten done a lot faster with someone else helping. Also not sure why but when I was hammering the nails into the back they all bent before they went into the dresser which was extremely frustrating. Other than that everything was pretty standard ikea stuff so if you’ve built something from here before you can do it! The dresser seems much sturdier than the malm dresser I had prior and I got about 7 years and 3 moves out of those so I’m hoping this one lasts just as long or longer!5
Looks greatMegWas a little hard to put together but the final product looks great.4
Love them!KAREN R.We bought 2 to replace 17 year-old Malm dressers. These are bigger than the Malm and roomy enough for all of our stuff. I love that there is extra support for the bottom of the drawers. After assembling the first one, the second one was a breeze, although it was missing a drawer front, which IKEA was able to provide. Looking forward to having this just as many years as our Malms.5
Love this dresser but unhappy with quality of drawersLindsay J.We LOVED this dresser until the bottom thin boards began warping from use over time (not over filled). I was really bummed to find out that newer versions of this dresser now come with a support beam to fix this issue but those that were purchased before this have no options for repair to an otherwise perfectly good item in great shape! Definitely do not skip this step in the building of this or you will find your drawers no longer useable and a request to your product team…make there be a fix to this issue for those already purchased before this date so that we can keep loving your items!4
Overall Happy, Just 1 Slight IssueJasonI purchased the Hemnes dresser to match the day bed in our spare bedroom. Assembly was easy and it looks great, but two of the drawers don’t close very easily. I checked my assembly over several times, so I’m guessing it’s a slight warping of a part or two is causing the issue. Overall, I’m happy with the Hemnes line.4
Great for priceJamieGreat for price5
It’s the second one I’ve boughtLuisaSturdy, holds a lot of clothing, nice finish. Happy with my purchase!5
The new finish now is garbage white stain wowww so disappointed.Ruth M.IKEA furniture is good but when they take out the white glossy shine on the hemnes dresser and chest and put that’s stupid white stain that’s shit is garbage now they bring the white stain I was very disappointed with my purchased I wanted a white glossy finish for my kids room I ended up with white stain for all that money on the hemnes dresser and chest going to return the white stain later on cause my kids are small and that stain white with no glossy finish is garbage.1
Great chest of drawersReneeThis chest is amazing the drawers are huge. This fit clothes that we had spread into to different dressers. I love the color and look. It took a while to put together and for some reason one of the drawers catches when we pull it out, but it's still great. I would definitely recommend.5
Easy to assemble. Beautiful finish.BETTYEasy to assemble. Beautiful finish. Sturdy. Love the deep drawers.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the tree species, it is durable, beautiful and renewable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood.
