Common sense is not for everyone, dowels holes DO line up! :DSabrinaI was lucky enough to find a couple of these on the AS-IS section of the store, since they’re being discontinued. They were brand new, so I had to build them. This is where I came to find the % of our population who does not indeed have common sense. The dowel holes are PURPOSELY made to align in two places, so that you may not accidentally set up the shelves in the wrong direction! (One side is finished, while the other is exposed wood.) Thanks to the clever and quite helpful engineering by the IKEA team, this appears to have dumbfounded part of our population LOLOL *if one side does not add up, it’s because the shelf is on backwards, folks…
flip it and voila!
I did not intend to use these as night stands, but rather use in my closet as a very budget friendly “built-in-cabinet” like shelving system in my closet and they worked flawlessly for that! They look so good & even match my apartment closet paint perfectly! I used a drill bit and ea. one took less than 5 mins to build! Yay:)

Holes don’t line upChristianCrazy how people are on here complaining about this and IKEA does nothing to fix it. So frustrating having to drive back and forth to ikea because a lot of their products have poor quality control. Nearest ikea to me is an hour away. They’ll be sure to nickel and dime you for a bag though and make you check yourself out.
Night standJenniThis is quite a bit smaller than expected; was not tall enough to use as a nightstand next to my sons bed; however, we ended up putting it on top of my sons dorm fridge in his room and using it to store laundry supplies and other non-shareable items for his university apartment. It appears to be good quality and enough space in between shelf’s for taller items such as glass plus, Clorox wipes etc… could have used it to store books and whatnot if needed.
Dowel HolesReenalaineI purchased 2 of these nightstands, and for one of the nightstands, 2 of the dowel holes for the middle and top board didn’t line up. However, I was still able to set it up just fine; I just had to be careful with the alignment. Otherwise, this nightstand would be simple to put together and looks great. I looked through the reviews and saw that some others had the same problem. Just be aware of this before you purchase.

Dowel Holes Did Not Line UpIvorDowel Holes Did Not Line Up. Response from Ikea is "Sorry about the missing parts". But there were NO missing parts, we had two dowels left over. Because the holes did NOT line up, it was NOT possible to use those two dowels. The panels were NOT drilled correctly. I hope Ikea reviews the design / manufacturing for this product and fixes the mis-aligned holes problem. Otherwise it is a fine product, as noted in my original review.
Dowel Holes Did Not Line UpTheresaWas really excited to find this “nightstand” because I needed a short and compact shelf for under my work desk. When I opened the box, I was even more excited that the material itself seemed sturdy especially for the price point. When I got to the step where I had to attach the shelf, I learned the dowel holes on one side did not line up. I even checked the bottom shelf piece to make sure. So now I have to disassemble and bring it back to the store. I’m so frustrated right now. Poor quality assurance on IKEA’s part.
