Squeakyamys973I was so happy to get a chair the size I wanted. however, I followed the directions to a tee and the chair squeaks every time someone sits init. Disappointed. I tried reaching the Customer Service and the store could not get through.2
I LOVE this chair except for...I Am the PainterThis is a fabulous chair. It looks clean, neat and more expensive than it is. It's very comfy and I added a black and white pillow for the back. I only bought one to see if it would look right. Now I'm going to buy 3 more to turn an unused dining room into a conversation area. I like that the covers don't make the chair look like an unmade bed like some slip covered furniture. I have a view of a lake from that room and I love sitting in this chair watching the ducks. The cushions aren't too soft, nor are they too firm. I'm ecstatic about my purchase. The only thing that's disappointing is that the legs are only 4 inches tall so it sits so low to the ground. I realize that Ikea furniture is European styled where living areas are much smaller with lower ceilings. Most people live in small apartments so this fits the bill. I wish Ikea would sell taller legs to replace the short ones. I don't know who to suggest that to. I purchased 6 inch legs somewhere else and now the chair is perfect! I noticed that the sofas are low as well. Don't let that stop you though. This chair is so well made and very sturdy. I'm 70 years old and put it together in 20 minutes by myself. I own so much Ikea furniture and throw a lot of parties. I get rave reviews on my decor and am always asked where I found such fabulous pieces. Ikea is my favorite store and always has been.4
Awesome armchair, great valueCassiopea100This is a classic chair that works perfect in our smallish family room (13x17). I purchased 2 for a room makeover. They look amazing. The fabric is very high quality and the slipcovers are easy to put on. As the other review mentioned, the slipcovers are held in place with velcro, which is very nice. We purchased an extra cover for each chair. The seat cushion is a bit firm, but I'm sure it will soften up with use. Lots of padding in the arms and back. The seat area is actually larger than stated on the website. The seat is slightly wider towards the front. Back width is 18.5 and front width is 20.5. It's very comfortable for an average adult. Not tiny. It is slightly lower to the ground compared to a standard sofa, but not an issue for us. And given the quality, the price is very hard to beat. Very solid construction. Took about 30 minutes to assemble. We used a rubber mallet to get the pieces into place. A little tight, but very firm once assembled. No cons that I can see. This is a total thumbs up.5
Ektorp"s updated sisterCNPJVery impressed with this armchair! It is like the Ektorp's more petite and chic sister. It still has the roll arms, but they are less exaggerated, there is no skirt, so the black legs show, giving it a more contemporary look. I also liked that the back cushion is integrated and not loose, unlike the Gronlid or Ektorp sofa (my kids constantly exercise the throw in throw pillows, and any loose ones are always on the floor). The best part is how well-made and well-designed the slipcovers are. I'm a seamstress and was considering buying chairs and slipcovering them myself to protect from kids, but these are fantastic! What is unique is the velcro strips along the seat deck that hold the cover in place perfectly. This works so much better than the tucking into the cushions, elastic or ties I have seen before. The result is a slipcover that never slips! The 2 chairs I bought always look neat and unrumpled, even after someone (me) climbed on the seat cushion and arms multiple times to hang curtains. This chair is quite comfortable as well. I sat on one in the showroom and loved the cushy feeling. After assembling my new ones, I found the seat cushion much stiffer than the showroom one and my hope is that they will break in with time. This chair seat is slightly more narrow than the Ektorp, but just as deep, which works for my purposes. I have a smallish living room, so these are the perfect profile for me. If you have some larger people you are accommodating, the Gronlid chair might not be the best choice. Assembling the arms to the seat base took some perseverance, so maybe meditate first. Overall I highly recommend.5
