The cotton in this product is grown with less water, less chemical fertilizers and less chemical pesticides, while increasing profit margins for the farmers. That way, we lower our environmental impact.

We want to have a positive impact on the planet. That is why by 2030, we want all materials in our products to be recycled or renewable, and sourced in responsible ways.

Nice and comfortable, love theMERCEDESNice and comfortable, love the color.5
Beige is…gray?AleishaThis is my first IKEA purchase and I’m pleased with how straightforward the assembly was. I did it alone. However, the color of the sofa is not beige like the name or images show. The close up image of the fabric is a much more accurate depiction of what the cushion covers look like. Gray with specks of blue. Other than that, I like how solid and long the sofa is (I’m 5’9” and have extra room when I lay down)4
So comfy and easy toMelissaSo comfy and easy to clean5
4.75 StarsAngelaLove the look and firmness of this sofa. It took me and my husband about 3 hours to put together. I don’t think I would have been able to do it myself. The only negative is the fabric, although beautiful, attracts dog hairs - they stick to the material.4
This is a FABULOUS sofa!Janice A.I bought the Gunnared Beige covers and put it together by myself. I'm 73 yrs old and a widow recovering from brain surgery. It was simple really. the fabric is soft and doesn't need to be ironed as there are minimal wrinkles that came out when I put on the covers. It doesn't look like an unmade bed like some slipcovered sofas do. It's very tailored and the covers are taut. This sofa is so comfortable and I am thrilled with my purchase. One tip is to remember that when you are assembling it, make sure the velcro strip on the base is facing forward so you don't have to take it apart and start over. I almost made that mistake. I love this sofa!5
Nope!CassieWe received half of the sofa and was told the rest is out of stock after I had to call to see where it was. Then we had to drive 2 hours to the closest IKEA to return what was shipped to us because pick up is not available for returns. We haven’t gotten the rest of our refund (over $900 because we bought 2 sofas) for the parts that are out of stock and it has been 26 days. No one can tell us why it is still processing, we are only told it should be done soon. It has been a complete nightmare trying to get our refund back. We will never be purchasing from IKEA again.1

We LoVe it amazing priceMarieWe LoVe it amazing price too the only thing we changed is the legs went to Home Depot and bought light wood legs!!!5
Poor cushion qualityLnaig1I bought this a month ago and have been disappointed. The cushions for the sofa seat never inflated fully after opening, giving the sofa a flat appearance with baggy slip covers. Worse we included the chaise, and it is full and soft, so the sofa portion is easily an inch lower where it’s cushions start and both the comfort and appearance are clearly different. Also the slipcover design is disappointing. In order the remove the full sofa back and arm covers for cleaning and care you have to disassemble the sofa. The primary reason I choose IKEA sofas over other options is the easy care with the slipcover design,I would love to see a design that makes the removal of these covers more accessible.2
Nate GMedium Gray color was as expected. All of the covers fit well except the cushions. The are looking a bit baggy. I was hoping they would fit snug. I'm wondering if they are different cushions because the picture makes the seat height look taller than what we received. They aren't very comfortable. Assembly was similar to other IKEA couches that I have bought.3
Great valueJB622We’ve had this couch about 2 weeks and so far love it. It’s on the firmer side, but the beige is a great mix of greys and ivory’s and soft material. The ability to wash the covers makes it a huge plus for kids.5
Great quality!Enricoc75RII bought this sofa online in April, when it first came out, no reviews yet. It's fantastic! Excellent quality and super comfortable. The seat cushions will take at least 72 hours to fully regain their shape after you unpack them, so probably your sofa will not look so good for a few days. Don't panic, it will plum up and be very comfortable. The back cushions are really overfilled, it takes a bit to fully fit them inside their covers. It's a firm yet comfortable sofa, the springs make a huge difference! Feels and looks like a very high-end expensive sofa. We originally bought the Gunnared in medium gray, however it looks very different from the pictures. It's more like a blue, almost like a light denim/chambray fabric. we then purchased the Tallmyra black, and we love it. It's a cool black, and because of the texture depending on the light it can look a bit greenish/blue. The way it fits the sofa is much better than the Gunnared. Hopefully we'll be able to return the Gunnared cover, since it was bought online and there is not physical receipt.5

Our take on cotton

We use cotton in many of our products, from sofas and cushions to bed linen and mattresses. It is a soft, durable and renewable fiber that breathes and is good at absorbing moisture. All these great qualities make cotton one of our most important materials, but it isn’t without its challenges, much having to do with conventional farming methods that negatively impact the environment and poor working conditions for farmers. With our size and production volumes, we want to drive change in the cotton industry. By only using recycled cotton or cotton from more sustainable sources, working with partnerships and initiatives on the ground and prioritizing compliance, we believe that we can make a positive impact in the world of cotton.

100% cotton from more sustainable source

Since 2015, all cotton in IKEA products is either recycled or comes from more sustainable sources*. This means that we only source cotton grown using sustainable farming practices that reduce the use of fertilisers, pesticides and water, improve working conditions and earnings for farmers, and benefit ecosystem health and biodiversity conservation. We have set up a system that enables use to trace all our cotton and ensure that the final product is from approved, certified sources. *Cotton from more sustainable sources commits to the following schemes: Better Cotton (as defined by BCI, including their equivalence in various geographies), cotton from farmers working towards the BCI standard (TBC).

Working together to drive change

Each year, IKEA uses around 0.5 percent of all cotton grown around the world. This may not seem like a lot, but the number is big enough to drive change in the industry. For many years, we have been working with partners and stakeholders globally to transform conventional large-scale cotton farming and set social and environmental standards for cotton production. As an example, we helped set up the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) who runs the world’s largest cotton sustainability programme. BCI exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future. Today, more than 110,000 farmers have adopted more sustainable farming practices within IKEA projects.

Ensuring compliance throughout the value chain

All IKEA products are produced in accordance with the IKEA IWAY Standard, our Supplier Code of Conduct. It sets out the minimum environmental and social standards expected from our suppliers, including compliance with local laws. We do not accept any form of forced labor, child labor or treatments in breach of our supply chain requirements. Our cotton teams across the globe ensure that all cotton used in IKEA products meets the demands of compliance in our supply chain. By having teams on the ground in areas where it has previously been challenging to work responsibly, we can challenge the traditional ways of working and improve the industry. If we discover that we are acting in places where we cannot ensure our requirements are being met, we follow-up on the ground and drive change.

What is cotton?

Cotton is one of the world's most appreciated and used natural fibers. Textiles in cotton are soft, hardwearing and can be washed at high temperatures. They are also good at breathing and absorbing moisture – making them pleasant to wear close to the body. Today at IKEA we use more and more recycled cotton and strive to make sure that all the new cotton we use has been grown and produced with less and less amounts of pesticides, fertilizers and water.
