Efficient but lacking substance, literally ChandraWhen I ran into trouble with the side of my new couch not being drilled properly, I was pleased with the response to get a new one out ASAP. However, when it arrived I noticed that the upper portion at the end was not completely filled with padding or stuffing. It’s a key point in the arm bench because it’s where you hold to stand up. I was just too tired with the whole process of the replacement and getting task rabbit back out to install to complain or bother with yet another replacement. That’s going to require energy from another day.
Excellent product, once configured and assembledStowellPerfect in neither configuration but acceptable in either. Comfort OK in both configs. Quick, easy change.
Finnala family of products is modular. Instruction booklet applies to several products. Must skip sections to assemble sofa-bed. Drawings often befuddling.
Two major challenges: First was figuring out which components to buy for config I wanted. No clear statement of that on Ikea web site. Nor could I find an Ikea rep who could tell me.
Other challenge was that I could not properly insert back cushions in covers. Seat cushions come already in covers. Ikea should do that with back cushions. If I were to assemble another, I would insert cushions into covers immediately after unsealing them, before they expand. As it was, I thought I was following directions by waiting 72 hr for cushions to expand before I put them in. I could not get them in properly. They are lumpy and mis-shapen. Not too uncomfortable, but sofa looks sloppy.

Could be more leather on the productAmyFor the price, it was disappointing that less than 50% of the product is actual leather. All the surfaces that you have contact with while sitting are made of leather but the outer part that faces away from the couch is not. It looks fine with the couch.
Sofa end cap is optionalJohnWe used this sleeper sofa in our RV remodeling project, limited by a 20” wide entry door & RV 80” width maximum for slide clearance it sure was comforting to know the Finnala could be used without the two arm rest’s if necessary … but we are very happy all fit ok & installing both arm rests makes the living area very cozy.
