Great display caseAnnaI got a pair of these for my Lego sets. Easy to build and looks great in my apartment. Shelves can be moved which is good. I also like how easy to clean it is.5
Not a robust display solutionJamesIt’s obvious many corners were cut in terms of quality control when this product was designed. If you were hoping for a detolf replacement this isn’t it. The sizing is much smaller and overall the unit feels of lower grade materials but at a higher cost then detolf was. The rear glass panel is held in via two plastic wedges and two nubs on the bottom platform; some may find that it will not sit perfectly flush with the metal frame. Unlike the old awesome detolf, which had clear glass all the way around, the metal frame of this unit acts as a visual obstruction at the corners, so generally don’t plan on displaying anything diagonally. The door is not designed for optional left or right mounting, so will always open from right to left; plan for that in your space. Finally maybe the biggest drawback, these units come with 3 glass shelves that hold approx 7lbs each. Don’t break them because IKEA won’t sell you replacements, meaning you also cannot add additional shelves for smaller items.3
bring back the Detolf!VeraUgly, wobbly, cheap looking, inadequate spacing between the shelves. Inferior to the Detolf in every possible way.1
Screw holes need workLouisaThe holes for the screw to hold the magnet is too small. I need to drill it larger for the screws to fit.1
Need to have spare shelves Anonymous reviewerThe cabinet itself is good. String and sturdy. Uncertainly it comes with 3 glass shelves only. There are holes to add 3 more shelves but ikea doesn’t sell the shelves separately to add more. I didn’t know this otherwise would have opted for another one. I asked the store associates and they confirmed shelves are not sold separately. 3
HorribleErikaAbsolutely horrible . Assembly is so hard because the screws and holes don’t match at all . The holes are way too small and then the screws and other parts don’t even fit. I spent hours assembling it and then at the end of the day the locking shelf support pegs that hold up the glass didn’t even screw onto the display, I have to return it ! My dad had to manually make holes bigger , gets his sturdy dewalt equipment and this was just such a disappointment. Such a waste of time and money. This should not cost the money it does, I’d pay $30 at most. And of course ikea will tell you to return it and waste your gas and time going back. IKEA costumer service sucks as well.1
So hard to put together MacyAs a plant lover with limited space this is exactly what I was looking for. However it was extremely hard to put together screws were so small. I will look for something else for my next greenhouse making 3
I wish it had more space AriIt’s so practical and easy to assemble, I looked everywhere to add more shelves as it has space and holes for the pins but couldn’t find any anywhere. Ikea please help 4
Way too difficult to put shelf screws in.RickSpent hours trying to get shelf hilder screws in. Finally just gave up and ordered a different one from somewhere else.1
Difficult assembly and wrong screwSalemThe assembly of this shelf is very difficult and in one of the last steps they give you screws that don’t fit the drilled hole so the magnets can’t be fixed to the structure. I’ve seen on Reddit that this has been a problem for over a year and is definitely still a problem. Pretty disappointing but if they fixed that it would be great3
Somewhat tricky to assemble.JannaProbably easier with two people4
OkSamSmall screws tend to break or strip. Built 10 of these over two years. The batch from this year seem like the screw quality is worse.3
Horrible to assemble; quality is poorBrittnyI am fairly new to Ikea so I wasn’t able to enjoy the older furniture pieces that were better quality. This item, however, was horrible to assemble. I followed the instructions about proper alignment. Make sure you have a balance measure tool because perfect alignment is important. The back panel was literally impossible to align because it was manufactured so poorly. It’s crooked and requires a lot of effort in getting the perfect alignment just to secure them with the screws. This was so frustrating for the most part because these panels were so poorly made.
But of course, IKEA will respond to these low ratings with the generic “we are sorry but you can return the item” replies. As long as they are making profit, they will continue to cut corners until they officially lose customers. I think they lost me for good. I’ve had issues with several other pieces that I have bought here and I don’t think I’ll spend premium prices for dollar store quality. 2
Good but not good enoughGustavoNot so sturdy. Looks good and does what it's suppose but not worth the price.3
Looks really nice, but frustrating build and bad QAArminThe cabinet looks very nice fully assembled, but I had three major issues, one of which made this impossible to complete if I didn't find a workaround. The first, like everyone else is saying, is the back panel clips are very, very annoying to get in. Second, the door on mine opens slightly down; unless I pull up hard on the cabinet door handle as I open it, it digs into the carpet and wont open and even then its still not smooth. Third, which is the worst, the hole for the handle wasn't punched out in the correct spot, meaning the supplied screw could not tighten without putting a ton of pressure on the side of the glass (which they point out in the manual is bad and can shatter the whole thing). Fortunately I had other m4 screws so I had a replacement, but the smallest screw head I could find barely fit and I was lucky to find one that worked3
Want moreAlejandraIt was difficult to put in the screws, but I was able to put it all together just fine. Worried the whole time it would break. Now I really love this glass cabinet, but I want at least three more shelves. I don't know if there is an option to get additional shelves.5
Worse than the DETOLF in every wayMatthewThis cabinet is smaller than the DETOLF, has worse fitment, but costs the same as the DETOLF did. The back glass panel barely fits, took me 30 minutes to an hour of messing with it to get it to fit. The pegs that screw onto the door hinges to top them off don't screw all the way down. The door is crooked. The screws for the magnets that keep the door shut do not fit properly in the holes drilled for them. Putting the walls of the cabinet up are easier than the DETOLF, but everything else involved in the assembly ruin the build experience. Along with the significantly smaller size, this makes the BLALIDEN a worse product than the DETOLF in every way.1
Similar complaintsAnonymous reviewerScrews didn’t fit into the magnet holes, it’s wonky, and was confusing to assemble. Wish it came with 1-2 more shelves. Disappointed that this has consistently had quality issues that ikea has yet to fix. Seems very poorly designed :(2
Absolutely PERFECT!!!RosePurchased 2 to create a small Lego Display entertainment center for a sunroom space. The case allows the Lego sets to be displayed without getting dusty. I was also able to easily line each shelf with solar copper lights which enhanced the entire display. Couldn’t be more proud of the creation!!!5
BestLoisNot large enough but it works5
