beautiful!LoriMy husband bought this for me for our anniversary. Its absolutely beautiful! It is a quality canvas with a frame that can be put on the inside or outside. The directions for the frame were easy to follow and only took a few minutes to construct. The canvas hangs over our fireplace. Whenever we have company over they always mention the canvas.5
Perfect for the money!!JodiePerfect for the money!!5
I have always loved this !!K. A.I first saw this wall art print on the entrance hall of an Open House yrs. ago. When it came time to decorate a new apartment - I immediately thought of this. It is a stunning backdrop to the dining area. I did think it would actually be larger, however it looks very nice especially for the price (looks more expensive). The only negative was the assembly. It took myself and a handyman / maintenance worker more time than expected to put it all together (with the black frame showing). It is definitely a two person job.5

Only received the frame and no pic!Jolie KatI bought this 2 months ago. Received frame and no picture! After a ridiculous wait, I was told it was Ikea's mistake and should have never been shipped and no clue if would EVER be back in stock - keep the frame I obviously can't use and expect a refund. Now I have a partial refund and am totally being jacked around about the rest of the refund. NOT HAPPY!1

Our take on plastic
Plastic is a key material for IKEA, and remains so going forward. It is strong, durable, lightweight and versatile. It is a main component in a large amount of our products and has a wide variety of applications from surface materials such as paint and foil, to screws and shelf pegs. There is a lot of valid concern regarding how plastic impacts the environment and at IKEA we take this very seriously. As part of our larger circular journey and transition from virgin fossil based material, we are working hard to change all plastic in our home furnishing products to plastic made from recycled and/or renewable raw materials.
Art and images have an ability to evoke emotions and moods in us. Certain images create a sense of calm and harmony, while others kick-start our imaginations and make us daydream. Anna Ohlin works with communications at IKEA. She sees a growing interest for more personalised decorating throughout the world and believes that wall space can be used much more in many homes. "If you live in an apartment of 269 sq ft, of course the space will be limited, so the walls can be used to enhance a personal style", says Anna. "Maybe a nature picture, 2 yards high, could help you relax and feel really good when you come home after a long day at work".
Flat packages are not enough
In our stores, there's a wide range of picture frames and images in various sizes. But how do you carry your new picture home on the bus or on your bicycle if it measures 78 x 55"? And how do you squeeze such a big picture into a small elevator to get it up to your apartment on the tenth floor? It's not enough that the package is flat, it also needs to be small. "It’s rather strange actually; most of our range is sold unassembled, to take up as little space as possible for transporting and storing, but for some reason our frames have always come assembled". It was this insight that triggered Anna's technically-minded colleagues to begin developing BJÖRKSTA unassembled picture frame. The goal of the project was a picture frame you carry home with you in a package that is easy to carry. And when the product developers had already started thinking outside of the box, they found a solution for greater freedom of choice: the canvas can either be mounted inside the frame, or over it to cover the frame.
The art of finding the right mood
Freedom of choice was something of a mantra for everyone who developed BJÖRKSTA. The frame was developed in different colors and different sizes and was complemented by a number of canvas designs (yes, with the canvas rolled up under your arm, you also carry it home easily). "For many people, the home is an ongoing and ever-changing project, and therefore we want it to be easy to change the canvas", explains Anna. So the next time you plan to make an investment in art, the only other thing you’ll need is a bus ticket or your bicycle. What image would provide the right mood if it were on the wall of your home: a lush-green tropical jungle or a black-and-white urban jungle? "Why not have a beautiful fabric mounted to the frame?" suggests Anna.
Only recycled or renewable plastics
Plastic is most commonly derived from oil and gas, which are non-renewable fossil sources. These sources do not renew themselves and will eventually be depleted. Our ambition is that by 2030, all plastic used in our products will be based on renewable or recycled materials. Renewable plastic is made from materials such as vegetable oil, corn, wheat grain and sugar cane. Recycled plastic allows us to give a second life to non-biodegradable products such as PET bottles that would otherwise end up in landfill. Using recyclable sources also lessens our dependency on oil as a raw material. Currently more than 40% of our plastic products are based on recycled and renewable materials and our aim is to reach 100%. As we add products made from recycled and renewable materials to our offer, we hope to inspire other companies to do the same.
Phasing out single-use plastics
Single-use plastic items pollute ecosystems if not disposed of responsibly. As part of our commitment to people and the planet, all single-use plastic products from the global home furnishing range were phased out in 2020. This includes items such as plates, cups, and plastic straws offered in our restaurants, bistros, and cafes. These were replaced by disposables made from 100% renewable sources.
PET and PP our most commonly used plastics
Polythylene terephthalate (PET) and Polypropylene (PP) are durable, hygienic and shatter-resistant plastics. They absorb very little water and have good chemical resistance. Both PET and PP can be reused and recycled, which reduces waste and gives the product several lives through use and reuse. PET is the most recycled plastic in the world and can be used for many different purposes such as plastic bottles and containers for packaging food and beverages as well as for personal care products, pharmaceuticals and many other consumer products. At IKEA we mainly use recycled PET in boxes, filling material for textiles and kitchen front foil. PET is approved by health-agencies as safe to use for food and beverage. IKEA uses recycled PET that is post-consumer based, which means it is based on collected and sorted PET bottles.
Clean and safe
IKEA takes product safety very seriously and all products are tested and comply with the strictest possible laws and safety standards on all IKEA markets. Customers should always feel confident that products bought at IKEA are safe and healthy to use. IKEA wants to minimize or totally refrain from the use of chemicals and substances that can be harmful to people and the environment.
Together, we can do more
Our journey towards only using recycled or renewable plastic will take some time and require new ways of doing things, but we are determined to take responsibility and find new solutions. We want to give our customers the possibility to choose products made from more sustainable materials that can be recycled again one day. Together, we can make a big difference!
What is aluminium?
After iron, aluminum is the world's most used metal and has a very wide range of uses. It’s easy to shape and lightweight, but is still strong and durable. In our range we use it for things such as kitchen utensils, curtain rods and tealight cups. A big advantage with aluminum is that it can be recycled again and again without losing its quality. Recycling consumes only a fraction of the energy required to produce aluminum from new raw materials.
Easy to take home
Are you taking the bus home or is the car full of children? No problem! BJÖRKSTA picture is large but easy to take home. You buy the frame unassembled in a flat package and the canvas comes as a roll – both are easy to carry and fit under your arm.
Form design process
Mount as you like
A picture is a picture, but how you mount it affects the overall impression. The beauty of BJÖRKSTA picture with frame is that you can choose between two different mounting methods. Mount with the frame visible or with the canvas spanned around the frame - it's entirely up to you.
