  • This furniture must be secured to the wall with the enclosed wall anchoring device.Handle with care! A damaged edge or scratched surface can cause the glass to suddenly crack and/or break. Avoid collisions from the side - this is where the glass is most vulnerable.

Billy BookcasesAnneThe bookcases hold an amazing amount, and have really streamlined my room. The gray metallic finish goes nicely with my white walls. They seem very sturdy. My only complaint would be the paper thin backing. It's very difficult to work with, but should hold up because it's flush with the wall. Overall, a great choice.4
Great color and styleSylviaThis is just what I needed in my dining room for storage. I bought extra metal knobs and it looks great.5
Wish the back board wasGailWish the back board was stronger mine ripped during installation. Only complaint4
Beautiful Billy BlueRobinI just love these bookcases! I bought 8 units with the glass fronts and lights for an impact library for my home. Best thing I’ve done. They look so great when you come into the room! Love them. The Blue color is fantastic.5
Great BLUE display!JohnnieNeeded something with adjustable shelves for larger action figures! Yes, action figures. Did the job. Buy before the price goes up on this too. detolfs were $59.99, now they are $99.995

Love!KarenSo easy to put together. Billy is sturdy and a good looking piece. We love our Billy!5
Hinge pilot holes on one door completely crookedDanielle W.Got 90% of the way through assembly, and was putting hinges on the doors — finished the first door, and moved to the next, only to find that the pilot holes were drilled completely crooked, all the way down the door. To expose one hole enough to get the screw in, I have to completely obscure the other pilot hole, and the hinge arm is crazy off center. I can’t even drill my own replacement pilot holes, as the holes I’d need to drill will overlap with the existing ones enough to make the hinge rattle… I am deeply annoyed, and don’t understand how this could’ve even happened — the doors are completely identical in all other ways.1
ReturningAdam S.Was excited to purchase but grey metalic is dark and muddy compared to photos on website, wish it was as pictyred on website. Glass has scratches, back of doors paint is chipped. The back panel is bowed and does not lay flat and bent sections are not glued properly, one seam is buckled. The size is perfect for what I wanted but the color is not as warm as pictured on the site. Even in the store the display looked different. And the price just went up $30 since I bought a few weeks ago. Really wish at least the color was same as advertised.3

Worked okay for what weWaunWorked okay for what we needed just wasn't as deep as we thought it was.4
This item ws works forWaunThis item ws works for what we needed but wish we had checked the depth of it as it is not very deep at all . Other than great item4
Nice piece of furnitureKristinI really like the Billy, the only downside is that the back is in two pieces instead of one seamless piece. I also wish the knobs were already set with holes to go into instead of creating your own hole. It is a classic piece of furniture and a beautiful way to display what you need.4
Perfect for a bookcaseDeborahThis piece is very nice and looks great in my living room. The only issue was my fault. I am not using it for books, but to display collectibles. It is too dark to do that effectively. I should have purchased something with glass sides.4
I love this bookcaseDavid H.I collect toys and use this bookcase to display them. It is easy to put together(requires 2 people do not do it alone). I have purchased 6 as of this date and they all look great next to each other.5
Color is off!Melanie S.The color pictured is accurate for this bookcase purchased back in 2018. I loved it so much I purchased another one last month - it is much more of a gray/metallic, chrome color, where previously it was more of a khaki, warm color (as pictured!) Much prefer the old version of this color as pictured on the website - disappointed in this one! Otherwise, the quality of this bookcase is great. Obviously I loved it so much I bought a second one.3
worth the wait!Jessica6 months. I needed it delivered to the new Nashville Shipping pick up location. 45 years I wanted glass enclosed book shelves for books from as far back as great grandfathers. FINALLY! We are on a tight budget/fixed income but can save up a little at a time and set aside to get the other cases like this. We both the blue color and it is just beautiful. Thank you IKEA. Thank you. NOTE: our daughters and son in law were our assembly team, and it sure seemed easy. a bit tedious, but not hard.5
Love it!AshleyThe instructions were very easy, color is wonderful and looks amazing in my home.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill waste – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a valuable resource instead of being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look. The day your sofa or bed needs replacing, the material in the particleboard can be recycled into something entirely new.
