Cannot fix the gigantic gap.IanI bought the bookcase as a way of having storage and shelf space in a small office. Easy enough to assemble except when we got to the floor brackets. No matter how much we tried the gap kept tappering wider and wider the farther up you looked. And then the top connecting brackets aid in keeping that gap because of how wide they are. We are going to have to find other brackets or make our own and then shim the bottom of one of the bookcases. In all this is a terrible bookcase and it took longer to get them to sit together than it did to put them together. We ended up not even using the bottom bracers because they did nothing.1
Not a corner shelfRodneyThey are 3 regular billy bookshelves. Ikea charge an extra $10 for this combo. It is not an actual corner shelf.1
I like them, but wish it had doors designed for the corner setupLianiI bought two larger bookshelves and one smaller one to set up for my pantry as I have a very small apartment. I waited for over a month and a half to purchase the Oberg doors to go with it to find out that the doors don't fit when in the corner set up. Really not happy about this as nowhere could I find information that doors could not be used in this configuration before I drove 80 miles, got them to fit in my compact car, and lugged them to my third-floor walkup. Now I have to get them back to the store for a refund. I don't understand how the designers would think that no one might want to put doors on with in this configuration.4
missing holes, defectiveQuinnwhen trying to assemble i realized that all the holes on the shelves were missing leaving it impossible to assemble on all 3 bookcases, now i have to drag them back to the store, disapointing and a waste of time1
Great design except for the empty space behind the cornerJustinShelf is easily customizable and a modern, minimalist, and sleek white. Unfortunately the area behind the corner allows for a cat to fall and get stuck, which is an issue particularly if the bookshelf is anchored to the wall (like it should be according to the instructions) and if it is in use. Having at least a platform to bridge the gap at the top would be a nice safety mechanism for those with adventurous pets, to prevent them from having empty the shelf and detach it from the wall and itself.4
Excellent for corner shelf anchor to my updated closetErinLove this shelf as the corner for updates to my closet. Perfect height and shelving shouted make it work perfectly in my master.5
Great corner unit!CarlaSo happy you have this option! It looks great in my small room! Easy to assemble!5
Bugs 🐜 🐛 🐞 in boxesVietI bout 4 wall units & it cost me $300 for handyman $300 to install. it was complicated and he needed another person to hold as he installed. The biggest disappointment was there where bugs in the boxes, huge bugs like water bugs, wood bugs & carpenter ants. I guess the shelves being stored in the warehouse. Full of bugs while opening box the bugs scattered all over my house! I was spaying & stomping as he was opening boxes! Once he got them all installed I examined the quality & they’re not made very well, not very sturdy and if they had to hold a lot of books there’s no way those shelves with hold up!1
Good buyAidaGood product for the price4
Great product for the priceJorgeReally nice product. Displays really nice in any room5
Purchased Billy corner unitCathyI wanted something for a corner of my craft room. I saw the Billy corner unit and thought that would be great. It was out of stock at my local store but they said they would text me when it arrived. It arrived sooner than expected. I received both a text and an email. I didn't measure correctly so was not able to use all three pieces in my corner like I had intended. i was able to use two of the pieces there and the third piece in another location. I was so happy to have that flexibility. They were very sturdy and also easy to put together. I am loving them!5
Weird GapsVictoriaEasy enough to put together but even with the corner hardware there is a larger gap visible at the top vs at the bottom. I can't get this to look straight with any of my adjutments.2
Great BookcasesVerified BuyerThese were easy to put together and they look great in my craft/children's books room.5
The Corner is PERFECT!Verified BuyerVery easy to assemble and secure to the wall! Sturdy and nice looking!5
Simple, stylish and does exactlyMariaSimple, stylish and does exactly what we wanted it for.5
Great concept, difficult to execute.PaulWhile the price and build is as you would expect with any Billy bookcase, joining these three bookcases to create the corner is a challenge. The gap between the top and bottom of the bookcases is difficult to get symmetrical even with the corner hardware.4
Billy corner unit! Great Buy!MartiI purchased these for my studio. The great thing about it is that the design is flexible; if you want them flat to the wall, you can do that, if you need them to turn the corner, they do that too! Easy modification! Also easy assembly!5
Best shelves everJoanneI am so pleased with these shelves. I bought 4 of the wider and 3 of the narrow ones and transformed my walk in closet into my library/supplies/clothes closet. We downsized recently so i have so much less space I could not display all my books. I downsized only to the ones I like best and am very happy how it turned out. Plus I put them together myself and I am 67 years old. My husband only helped carry them!5
Always easy to set upJenniferAlways easy to set up and we love how versatile Billy is!5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
