The edge of the table top is so high that there is room for a remote control and other small things, even if you place a tray on top.

Time for a coffee break? In the BASTUA collection there are 2 round trays with different patterns that fit perfectly on top of the side table. Sold separately.

The table top has extra high edges, so that things don’t slide off when you carry the side table.

The side table is lightweight and easy to move as needed.

Plastic feet protect floors from scratching and prevent stains or damage on furniture caused by moisture e.g., from mopping.

More than this productLINDAI bought 3 Bastua tables because I saw them advertised with the leaf tray on top. I was able to get the tables, but the trays were sold out when I was able to drive to our closest store 2 hours away (5 days after the items were promoted online). There are trays available at other stores, but no one will ship. I wish there was an adequate supply when an item is promoted. Of the 3 tables, one came with a wrong leg piece (there is a male & a female piece & I got 2 male pieces). I'm afraid the tables might be sold out before I can make the trip to exchange it.1

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.

It’s a collaboration with a truly Nordic spirit, offering a shared opportunity to live boldly, joyfully and well. What’s more, this is the first time that Marimekko has ever designed patterns especially for a collaboration.

“Nordic furniture design has always been characterized by clean lines and simple constructions that focus on function. The side table in the BASTUA collection is my take on this heritage. Made of birch veneer with a high edge around the table surface that keeps things in place and allows you to put a tray with snacks and beverages on top – without needing to move the remote control and eyeglasses. It also takes up little space and is easy to move since it’s lightweight.”
