Reliable with soft fabricWendyOur Ektorp ottoman from 2004 finally gave up the go so needed an ottoman. Really hoping it is able to fill the shoes. Went together easily enough. Love the firmness. Bummed the covers from this line do not fit the Ektorp line. Our Ektorp sofa will be replaced next with a matching cover but our loveseat & second ottoman are like new. Not sure what to do?
Pretty but hardAliceI like this ottoman in general. The fabric is nice, it has a classy look to it, easy to assemble and clean. However, this isn’t really something you’d sit on (I know they aren’t technically meant to be sat on but more for feet and as a coffee table). It has a very hard top. Say that, it could definitely work as a coffee table sort of situation!

Flimsy junkVeronicaSure, it looks nice with the sofa… but this thing is built so flimsy. I have nothing stored in the ottoman, it’s empty, so the only weight is itself. (Mostly because taking the lid off is so hard. It’s too heavy, so I don’t really use it.) But when a guest moved this empty ottoman sideways 3 inches across the floor, the entire side came right off. Turns out the short sides are held in place with just a couple inch long staples! It’s an ottoman, it should stand up to being moved and to having feet on it. How hard is it to build a wood box that won’t fall apart so easily?
Improvement DawnWe purchased same chair and ottoman years ago, ordered new one since last one was no longer. New material is stronger, more sturdy.
It's Being Returned JessicaThis one is just a no go.
*The ottoman is hard as heck so don't expect a cushy place to rest your feet.
*It also isn't the same height as the sofa which is disappointing.
*The lid doesn't have a hinge which would be nice.
It also came damaged so that's my sign to send it back.
I wouldn't buy it and I'm so frustrated after having to haul this up multiple flights of stairs to put it together to discover the bottom is damaged along with everything else.
Firmer than the sofaSheilaI thought the ottoman would have a similar feel to the matching sofa, but it is very firm, and a bit lower than the sofa’s height. Overall, it matches, but I’d love it more if it were softer and a bit fuller and if it matched the height of the sofa.
Upland Ottoman KathleenI have the Uppland chair in white/ivory. When the ottoman which was sold out for a looooooong time finally came back in stock. I grabbed one. Easy to put together and good quality. Love the storage of the ottoman. Pairs perfectly with the chair. Comfortable too. I use it to sit in my bedroom and read. Very happy with it.
Hate the OttomanAnneI absolutely hate this ottoman. Everytime you lean on the top it falls off the ottoman. Plus the bottom is flimsy cardboard and has already fallen through without anything in it. DO NOT get gray. If you try to get a spot off with water, it makes an even bigger spot.
There is absolutely no way to clean it.
Good but doesn't work well with BacksälenChristianJust 1/2-1 inch too tall to work comfortably with the Backsälen couch. Feet can be cut with a handsaw.
Feet are wood with sharp edges that tend to catch on carpeted floors.
Foam in top pillow is slightly too firm for my liking. Would prefer if it matched firmness of Backsälen line.
Black Knobs to Keep Top from MovingJanetIt took me a while to figure out what the black knobs were for but I realized they go on the bottom of the lid to stop it from sliding off the ottoman. I love this ottoman and love seat in our tv room. I just wish the slipcover on the ottoman was longer so it didn't show the ugly wood legs.
Use for the Four Plastic Knobs IncludedJanetTo all those reviewers who say the lid slides, my ottoman came with four black knobs with screws attached that screw into the bottom of the lid that keeps it from sliding off the bottom part of the ottoman. My only complaint withe the ottoman is that the cover is too short and you can see the cheap looking legs at the bottom.

Weird smell from bottom cardboardJungahI wonder how they kept their material. The bottom cardboard smell like some animal urine. I feel like I sit in the middle of the dirty hut. I wiped it and used the spray for deodorization. That smell is still there. Can I get a new cardboard that is not smelly?
