The rug’s dense soft pile in wool, with its shifting colour from dark to bright orange, looks like various shades of sunlight. I hope it makes you want to sit down on the floor for a relaxing moment.

Each rug is as unique as its design since it is hand-tufted by skilled craftspeople.
The dense, thick pile dampens sound and provides a soft surface to walk on.
The rug is made of wool so it’s naturally soil-repellent and very durable.

Weaving a better future for handmade rugs and the people who make them
Rug weaving in India has a rich history, and nurturing this unique craftsmanship starts with the skilled men and women who make IKEA rugs. Together with our suppliers, we have consolidated weaving into centers with good working conditions, fair wages, stable work and care for the environment. It’s a more sustainable way of producing handmade rugs — one that ensures the well-being of the weavers and their communities, the resources we use and our business.

“It’s important that the objects we surround ourselves with create a warm and positive feeling, regardless if it’s through lighting or colour. The rug that I created for the VARMBLIXT collection is a good example of what I mean. The dense pile, with its gradually shifting colour from dark to bright orange looks like different shades of sunlight. I hope that the colour combined with the soft wool evokes a desire to sit down for a moment to relax.”
