Decent rolling storage drawerCarina G.I purchased this recently & was disappointed when I unpacked because the side of the cabinet was dented in, box wasn't damaged so probably bent when packaged in the box. The metal is not heavy gauge so it is possible it could bend while assembling. I don't live near an Ikea so continued to put it together, it's not a room focal piece so wasn't super worried about it. The drawers are long & not super deep but seem to be able to store quite a bit of my art supplies. The drawers don't pull out as far as I would have liked for their length so it can be a bit awkward putting something longer in it such as a package of Liquitex acrylic paint tubes, they needed to come out of the box. If I were to make a wish list request on this Helmer, I would ask for less drawers that are deeper to allow a greater variety of items to be in the drawers. Overall I do like the convenience of being able to roll this around to where I need it and roll it back under my art table when I am done.4
Flimsy - hard to assembleMary-Anne P.Bought one of these a few years ago and recently ordered another. Quality has seriously deteriorated. The metal is mush less robust. So much so that assembly is a nightmare. Bending the drawer metal straight is virtually impossible so the drawers don't sit square or slide well. The instructions tell you to use a philips screwdriver to bend in some little metal tabs - absolutely doesn't work. I had to use a combination flat-head screwdriver and a blunt punch to achieve this. The one-way wheels are a joke. I replaced them with self- adhesive furniture glides. This newer model also has push-out tabs inside the drawers to prevent them coming all the way out but that stops you from being able to change the drawers around without emptying eveything inside them. Nanny-state safey measure. I'd reccommend paying Ikea to assemble this. Then when the drawers are all out of line - it's their problem. Very disappointed.1
Good Basic Drawer unitJARRETTAll metal. Great for organizing. Flat pack but easy to assemble5
Attractive Storage for art suppliescBought a second one. Excellent moveable storage unit for sorting art supplies. Drawers are sufficiently large enough to store standard letter sized pads or A4 size. Tidies away under desk. Castors and drawers run fairly smooth.5
Used to be an excellent product…Jennifer L.I have 8 of these and I and thousands of others like me, use them for storing nail polish. One of them can hold up to 500 bottles depending on the shape of the bottle. More recently the price has nearly doubled but the metal has gotten thinner so it’s no longer as sturdy as it was. This difference is very obvious when you’re putting a lot of weight in the drawers. I’ll be waiting until they go back to producing this as it was before Covid. I can take the bump in price, but not the drop in quality. It’s a shame because I literally need 10 more.3
Needed a printer standPierreI needed a place for a printer. This works and the storage is a bonus.4
Good looking practical unit, but noisy drawersAnonymousGreat product. I would just prefer to pay a little more if IKEA could figure out how to make the drawers slide quietly. As it is, it's a thin metal-on-metal unpleasant sound. Probably including $1 worth of foam-sided tape would solve the problem.4
HELMER, Drawer unit on casters, dark gray/light grayGinetteThe size was just perfect, the color too ! It fits almost anywhere and is surprisingly roomy for its smaller size.5
Ok, but drawers can be hard to slideMichelle S.These are ok if you understand the drawers are hard to slide, and the sides bend easily. Only for light items otherwise they will be harder to open. Also, these just went up in price from just under 20% (was $59, now $69) which makes me hesitate if they are worth it now.3
Horrible assemblySteve M.This is the worst IKEA product I have ever assembled, by some margin. The end product is OK, cheap and cheerful, but the manner in which the unit goes together is terrible. The sides, back, and crucially the top, is held together with press out tabs of flimsy metal. There is no way you can fold these tabs into place and maintain any rigidity to the structure. The whole thing flexes alarmingly and the top keeps coming off. The top needs to be held on to the body and it amazes me that IKEA didn't think to include an couple of small, pre-drilled braces to go at the back, both to keep the top on and to add some rigidity. I didn't use the castors so I'm going to use the castor mountings as braces, screwing them at the back of the unit with a couple of sheet metal screws. As a side issue, the draw runners are only loosely clipped into place and the instructions for assembly have the parts going together in an order that isn't optimal. Not a good product at all.2
Great cheap storage cabinetJohnnyI bought 3 of these cabinets and opted to not put the wheels on the bottom and just stacked all 3 units on top of each other so that I can have 18 units of shelving for miscellaneous items, magazines and general storage for random stuff. I bought 1 before and have been using it as an extension of storage on my desk.5
Excellent!MariantoIt looks beautiful and have a good capacity5

HelmerAYELETOriginally purchased to store craft paints, however drawers were not high enough, so plan B - store crafting supplies in place. While I love the finished product, it was very difficult to put together. It took my husband about 2 days.3
I do not like the tabs that you have to push in place.ElizabethI bought 2 of these as they are small and will fit in the spot that I wanted them to go in. The problem I have with them is the metal tabs that you have to push in to keep them attached together. I went on youtube to watch a video of how to put them together. The man say be careful pushes the tabs as they might break or not bend properly in place. I was so frustrated with doing the first one that I went and bought Gorilla Glue to hold in place the back piece and top piece. The drawers are easy to put together but those tabs. Both are together and look good. Why not use screws to secure it with. I will always to see how the items are attached. I would buy again as I would have to use Gorilla glue to attach the back and top.3
Fairly easy to assemble.wendyFairly easy to assemble.4
Top drawer is sticky. ItMarnieTop drawer is sticky. It does not pull out smoothly. When assembling, some of the push in tabs didn't line up with the hole through which to push them through. Otherwise its cheap and cheerful and fit into the tiny space I needed it to fit into.3
So many defective drawers, don't waste your moneyTatiana L.I ordered 2 of these Helmer units. I had high hopes, and I've had lots of great IKEA products over the years. These were awful. The drawers are assembled using little metal tabs that are bent into slots, rather than a more traditional design using screws. Sounds simple enough, right? Out of the 12 total drawers, 7 of them had defects that made it impossible to assemble them, as the tabs/slots were cut incorrectly and could not physically fit together. So in the end, I didn't even have one full functioning Helmer drawer unit. I contacted IKEA, and they kindly refunded me for the cost of my order, excluding the $40 I paid in shipping fees. After doing some research online, this is a pretty common problem people have had with the Helmer drawers dating as far back as early 2021, and IKEA clearly still hasn't fixed this issue, they just keep offering people refunds or replacements, which often have the same problem as the original purchase, leaving people with tons of faulty drawers.1
Using as a filing systemTINAUsing as a filing system for my company. Only thing I wish it came with is proper size labels to fit in slots on drawers. Otherwise works like a charm.5

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.
