Amazing with some modificationsVerified ReviewerI bought 2 of these and they have made our narrow hallway so much tidier and store all our family of four's daily shoes plus the kids' helmets etc. The sliding door feature is perfect since opening the doors doesn't take up premium hallway space. However, the fact the cabinet only has 3 legs is such a silly design feature as it prevents the cabinet from freestanding. So I bought the 4 pack Ikea capita legs and put these on the bottom of each cabinet, and voila, freestanding cabinets which I don't need to secure to wall studs. It should have been designed that way in the first place but since it wasn't I'm only giving it 4 stars. Finally, the diagonal placement of the shelves for larger shoes is a little awkward as my husband's flat shoes sometimes slide between the gap at the back of the shelf. It's a minor inconvenience though for the benefit of having shoes tidied out of sight.4
Shoe rackVerified ReviewerVery strong, easy to put together.5
stylish and spaciousVerified Reviewerlike it, was looking for shoe rack/ cupboard. but all of them were either very expensive or not big enough. but i bought the MACKAPAR from IKEA and its really nice. the doors slide, so it can fit in a slim place without having to worry about having enough space to open the doors. AND it stores a good amount of shoes.5
As good as I hoped it would beVerified ReviewerReally sturdy, easy to put together. Looks great5
Does what it says onVerified ReviewerDoes what it says on the tin5
Much nicer than I thought...Verified ReviewerBought this one under duress as the one I wanted wasn’t available when I went to collect... I was reluctant at first as I thought with sliding doors it would be flimsy, however I’m very pleasantly surprised and now very happy I ended up with this item instead of my original choice. Put it up myself in about 20 mins so bonus5
Nice materials Disappointing storageVerified ReviewerThis item looks good, but not practical. Footwear storage for sizes UK 7 and up does not fit well as cupboard door cannot be closed.2
Verified Reviewergreat for storage , tidy furniture5
Perfect for shoesVerified ReviewerThis cabinet is really lovely, it is very solid and gies well in the room, I will be buying another as it is also ideal for other storage options.5
Great storage solution!Verified ReviewerNeeded something to store my shoes in and because I have a small room I needed an item that could double up as a stand for the tv too, so this worked out perfect for me. I chose not to attach the 3 legs because on my wooden floor all the did was slide about so opted to not use them. I have to tilt the shelves down to accommodate my size 12 shoes and they fit perfectly, trainers, shoes and my Chelsea boots fit fine, my timberland 6 boots don't fit so they're laying sideways, thats ok for me right now. Pretty easy to put together, I did it solo.5
Fits perfectVerified ReviewerLove this... fits perfect and looks great too.5
Great shoe rackVerified ReviewerGreat size, solid build, looks great. Holds a lot of shoes. Great price aswell5
Excellent storage solution for narrow spaces.Verified ReviewerI have four of these in my utility room two are on the floor minus the legs with the other two on top giving a great deal of storage but not taking up much floor space. I don't keep shoes in but keep loads of other stuff in: alcohol, long life milk, batteries, bulbs, extension leads, tupperware...... all sorts! The shelves don't need to be angled you can have them horizontal and you do not need the legs on - we whipped a section of the skirting board off and cut it to fit either side of the cupboards so they ook very neat and tidy. I also sit my large pans and other things on top but you could put lidded boxes for neatness and still be able to get them off ok if you stacked two - I'm 5' 4 . Had them a year with almost daily use and can honestly say these have been the best things I have bought storage wise ever even if I'm not using them for shoes. Great product.5
Nice Cabinet but needs improvementsVerified ReviewerIt looks good and stores enough shoes. But I did not like the way you should put the shelves when you want to put bigger size shoes. Also doors sliding is not smooth.3
Perfect shoe storageVerified ReviewerPerfect shoe storage, changeable shelfs inside5
Poor dimensions for mens shoesVerified ReviewerAnnoying dimensions. It'll fit five single mens size 9 shoes on each shelf (i.e. two and a half pairs) and you'll need to install the shelves angled down. In other words one shoe will have to be stored elsewhere! The floor level will have about space for two pairs if they're squashed in sideways on. The sliding doors take up a lot of internal space and also make it annoying to retrieve the middle pair of shoes on each shelf. If it had outward opening doors instead, the shelves could all be fitted flat and the floor level would be usable.1
Great cupboardVerified ReviewerGreat for shoe storage though with men’s shoes the shelves bit narrow.4
PerfectVerified ReviewerWe purchased this to keep my father's birthday gifts in for his 70th we didn't bother fitting the legs so it sits on the floor as is being used as a drinks cabinet. Very easy to build totally idiot proof and very quick to build. Perfect thank u. And price was in budget. Packaging not too heavy either. X5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
