Product details

You can organise the inside with interiors from the HJÄLPA series – and for the exterior there are smart solutions in the LÄTTHET series.

You can easily create a storage solution that fits your needs and your space by combining frames in different heights and depths.

The frame is easy to install by just clicking it together, no tools are needed.

You can easily attach several PLATSA frames to each other using the included clips. They are easy to mount and remove without using tools, and you avoid visible screw holes on the outside.

Perfect where space is limited since the frame is narrow.

The storage solution is easy to assemble, disassemble and reassemble if you want to adapt it, bring it with you when you move or pass it on to someone else so it can stay in use much longer.

Frustrating assembly. Ill fitting backboard. Anonymous reviewerThe lack of middle brace during assembly means that inserting the backboard is a right faff. The grooving along the edges of the board seemed to hinder the process rather than help. The holes in the backboard also didn’t match up to the Platsa frame, so we had to tack it on anyway and were only able to use a couple of the plastic peg things IKEA send out now. The frame is relatively light weight but some pieces sounded like a rain stick when manoeuvring them in to place. Also had to buy 100mm length screws to be able to attach to the wall. I wish I had bought a PAX but they don’t do 80cm wide frames. I have built quite a lot of IKEA furniture in my time and the Platsa has been the most frustrating to assemble. 3
Unit sides were bowedAnonymous reviewerBought two of these: once went together perfectly and as per the instructions; the other had two bowed sides (bowed outwards) so neither the back panel, nor the shelves I purchased to go with it would stay in. I had to use my carpentry skills to brace the back of it so it could be used. Really disappointing.1
NiceAnonymous reviewerDo the job and cheaper than pax5
Not the best qualityAnonymous reviewerNot the best quality, couldn't get the back board on properly, wanted to buy a better frame but that was too heavy the way it was boxed so had to have this poorer quality one that I could at least lift the box.3
New to me locking systemAnonymous reviewerI have never used this locking system before, I’m used to the cam style. But have to say, it went together very easily. Time will tell if it’s as good as the Cam system4
Finished look not bad Anonymous reviewerI bought this to fill a space on the side of my chimmney. The width and height were perfect. Fixing the item at first was difficult. You need lots of space and snapping the drawers with the plastic accessories were quite difficult. Despite the floor levellers this needs to be put on a base to open door against carpet. I would recommend a short base. Features for this cupboard could be better like jewelry drawer.looking forward to see any further accessories.3
Nice designAnonymous reviewerWe had to find the space to fit them up, make sure, you have enough room.5
Ikea service is utterly awfulAnonymous reviewerOrdered this as part of a package, put together using the Platsa planner. The planner is a pain to use but we managed. When I came to assemble the wardrobe, I realised the frame was not in the order delivered. I then saw online that it had been split into another order with no delivery date. One day later, Ikea cancelled that order and refunded just the money for the frame, with no explanation. So I have a great bundle of useless parts clogging up my living room. I contact Ikea and they say that the frame is unavailable. I check this for myself and can see it is available for both delivery and collection. I tell Ikea this. They deny it. I send them a picture. They say I should order the frame again as they have already refunded the charge. This would cost me another £25 delivery charge, due to Ikea's incompetence. So I order the frame and drive for 2 hours to pick it up. Utterly shambolic organisation from Ikea. No customer service worth having. Will not shop there ever again. 1
Amazing Wardrobe!Anonymous reviewerAmazing wardrobe and such a great price! Love that you can build your own with so many different pieces/colours. Definitely recommend! 5
Great product Anonymous reviewerLove the product, easy to assemble. Would have given it 5 stars if it came with a base to lift it of the ground. It comes with feet which are ideal on a flat surface, but even on full height still wouldn't open on a carpeting. I've had to build a base to fit the units on4
Great unitAnonymous reviewerVery well made and easy to put together. Fixes well with other platsa units. I’ve used them for open plan wardrobes in my children’s bedrooms. 5
Not good Anonymous reviewerReally bad 1
Very badAnonymous reviewerworst product I've ever bought from ikea, unlike another dresser I bought months ago, this one was difficult to assemble because it requires a lot of free space, even though I was very careful there was a part that broke, completely disappointed. I don't recommend it1
Great storage Anonymous reviewerCustomised the shelf spacing to fit my requirements. Set of 4 fits all my storage needs. All neat and tidy with soft close doors.5
Easy to buildAnonymous reviewerInstructions very straight forward, no drill required, really great quality, easy to go together. Would have liked a bit more to play with on the feet adjusters5
Platsa 80cm wardrobe frame Anonymous reviewerHorrendous design! Need a space about 2 to 3 times the size of the wardrobe to slide all the parts into place, sides and back just chip as trying to assemble. Was really looking forward to getting this as looks great but not worth the hassle what so ever, managed to assemble but loads of chips in wood, won’t be surprised if it needs replacing in a couple months!! 1
Versatile and easy to constructAnonymous reviewerWe found these easy to construct and they have provided lots of versatile storage in our bedroom. They were relatively easy to join together though we did the first one wrong but were able to put it right. Very impressed with the range of accessories, shelves, doors, handles, shoe racks etc. Good value for money.5
Door has broken atlmost in a month timeAnonymous reviewerVery strangely. The doors were very delicate and it broke.3
It does what it saysAnonymous reviewerIt does what it says on the tin BUT. The panels are hollow so you can only hang a trouser hanger from a shelf by first fixing a batten. The door hinges conflict with the hanging rail which lowers it, I bought conventional brackets for clothes rail. Also no thin drawers for jewellery within the doors like PAX ( has good wire drawers) and a different size to PAX so you can’t interchange fittings. Can be assembled without tools though, need a rubber mallet, and a good bit of kit allowing for the problems. Hinge adjustment seems much easier than PAX.2
Quick delivery. Easy to assembleAnonymous reviewerQuick delivery. Easy to assemble and seems to be of sturdy construction.5

The storage that changes with you

Our living space is often limited, and it can be a challenge to find a place for everything. With PLATSA storage system, we wanted to create a simple, changeable storage solution that you can rebuild and add to, build vertically or horizontally, to the side or in between. On top of everything else, the price should be low but the quality should be high. The solution: the right quality in the right place.

"All you need is your hands," says product developer Freddy Kramer while clicking together one PLATSA frame after another. Yes, clicking. The secret is a type of plug called a wedge dowel. Freddy goes on to explain why assembling or taking frames apart easily is an important detail. "People's lives are changing more and more today ─ we move more often, live in smaller spaces and maybe share a home with others at times. That's why our needs don't look the same throughout life."

Take apart and rebuild

Freddy shows how the frames can be arranged vertically, horizontally or like steps, to then be completed with shelves, wire baskets, clothes rail, drawers and doors. "Even the exterior can be used. You can place hooks there or a clothes rail which is fixed between two frames."

Love in a white box

For PLATSA to be truly long-lasting, quality was just as important as flexibility and ease of assembling. But improving quality without adding to the price is not easy. "Right quality in the right place," Freddy says, and opens a cabinet door. "Here on the outside of the door, which you see and touch every day, we've used a matt foil with fine texture, while the inside, which is not as exposed, is coated with a simpler base foil." The PLATSA project took a lot of time and commitment. But it also gave results. "Those empty white boxes for the frames might not look like much at first glance, but they’re actually white boxes filled with love,” Freddy says, smiling.

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
