The base is a little different to previous versionsAnonymous reviewerI bought this unit to sit alongside existing Malm. We have a lot of these units, eight in total, so it is safe to assume that we like these units.
When we needed an additional MALM IKEA didn't have the standard white unit in stock and so we bought this high gloss version. Generally it is so similar that it blends in with the others. Sensibly IKEA have added an additional kicker plate at the front which reduces the chance of tipping, so that is different.
Across the range IKEA have altered their designs to prevent the chance of a set of drawers tipping and this has resulted in a whole new learning curve when putting them together.
The cabinet side runners were already fitted which was a pleasant surprise. The weakest part of the design is unchanged which is the horizontal bar between drawers, but if you don't overload your drawers it will be fine.
I am concerned that IKEA may discontinue this range as their new alternative with a safety cord between drawers isn't my idea of fun

Rubbish qualityAnonymous reviewerI’ve had these drawers for around a year and a half and they have peeled in multiple places. I bought two sets of these and then two small malm drawers and it’s happened to all of them which is a waste of money as now I’m having to scrap them and buy new ones as it just doesn’t look good.

I like white furniture and the gloss makes them feel better quality. I can always add or change splashes of colour in the room with paint or accessories. Now my storage is organised and plentiful. Wider furniture would have been much harder to fit.

What is particleboard?
