Not fit for purposeAnonymous reviewerFor those other reviewers who can't find the source of the noise, the rails that hold the slats are the problem, the screws go directly into the wood and some lose very easily creating the most horrendous noice, this bed is not for for purpose, I expected better from Ikea1
NoisyAnonymous reviewerUnfortunately this bed is quite noisy. Everytime my daughter moves it makes a lot of noise. Husband has tightened it a few times and checked it over but it just seems to be noisy. We gave it a few weeks just in case it was because it was new but no changes. Shame.2

50/50Anonymous reviewerHonestly it took so long to build because parts of the screws especially for the headboard didn’t fit so i had to personally file the plastic locks so that it would fit on the screw with the bolt it is also lower than i expected however you can lift the rails also it’s day one and it creeks with every movement???? if it wasn’t so tedious to unscrew and return i would but it looks nice in the room if it was a bit higher off of the ground it would get a higher rating but the creeking is driving me up the wall and it’s only been one night of sleep in it everything’s tightened and been done correctly it doesn’t move for it to make these noises and i’m not sure what to do slightly underwhelmed and upset that i spent my money on this as a student but it does look nice and if i fix the creeking somehow (not sure how) and lift up the rails then nothing to complain about3

I thought I was going mad or missed something but read other reviews here and realised its a genuine design flaw with the product.
The wooden slats are supported on a metal 'L' bracket the length of the bed and not held in place so the slightest movement can cause them to move and squeek.
I am amazed Ikea designed it like this!
Easy fix has been to cover the metal parts in scapa fabric tape (army sniper tape) which has eliminated the squeeks but I suspect it will eventually wear through.
The support brackets are also a little rattly but again easily fixed by tightly wrapping in tape where they join.
1 star because its simply not fit for purpose out of the box but its otherwise fairly solid.1
