Reviews

Terrible quality - very disappointedVerified ReviewerI was bought 2 of these by my kids for my birthday but feel like they have been robbed by Poor quality, the frame itself really does not hold itself together well and the back is held to the frame to avoid it effectively sagging by 4 of the smallest possible screws that don't hold in the cheap wood surround. The plastic front sags and can't support it's own width as it's not thick enough for the size of the minimal design of the frame itself to hold it all in place securely. Being a birthday present I can't say to them but disappointed with IKEA selling such a sub standard item1

Wall hanger incorrectly positionedVerified ReviewerI make pictures for craft fairs. The back of the frames on smaller hovsta and ribba frames are not suitable for pictures being created in landscape format. I dust seal the backs of all the pictures. When the picture is then stood on the stand it is fine.... However if my client changes their mind and wishes to hang the picture on the wall they cannot without the picture being upside down! The wall hanging bracket is underneath the foot of the stand and not above the stand. It would mean unsealing the picture frame, removing the contents, turning the picture round and resealing the frame just to change its position. It's fine in portrait - it works in that position but I don't like creating art in portrait. I showed this to an ikea staff member and they were shocked and agreed that there is room for the wall bracket on the back above the stand to make the frame useable in all formats when sealed. Please look into this and if possible amend. I had to drive back to ikea for a refund when I realised this.1
The hubby wouldn’t listen.Verified ReviewerThe product is great. Good price. Will have to find an alternative frame as it can’t do what the husband wanted it to. I mean it’s an Ikea product and it’s good. But some people want be told. It now houses a lovely photo.5
Excellent quality frame that looks so expensive...Verified Reviewerf33f9d82-1f7c-47db-8b59-9070fcb072b9.jpeg and professional. Easy to put the art in and close the back, easy to hang on attached fittings. Incredible value for money - I hope Ikea keep this one going.5
Very good quality.Verified ReviewerGood quality and very good value for price5

Thin Plastic FrontVerified ReviewerUnfortunately the thin plastic front split taking it out to put the print inside.1
Poster frameVerified ReviewerCheap and handy for temporary frames for drawings.3
FramesVerified ReviewerGood quality frames, reasonably priced.5
Perfect display box.Verified ReviewerHave created a fine picture using the frame incorporating an old birthday card.4
Great frameVerified ReviewerVery nice quality for the price, but somehow got scratched on the way home I don’t think the film is very protective so be careful with it on the way home4
Great for 3DVerified ReviewerBought this to display some badges, and as the frame has sufficient depth this was just the job. Shame it isn't advertised as such and was difficult to find, but am well pleased.5
Picture frameVerified ReviewerI have bought many picture frames from Ikea in the past and always find them to be good value and quality and wouldn't buy anywhere else.5
Very disappointingVerified ReviewerLove the look of the frame and had a picture to put in which wasn't particularly heavy just a watercolour drawing on cartridge paper, placed it nicely in the frame and looked great but in no time at all due to the very noticeable amount of flex in both the frame and perspex the picture fell inside the frame, had the same thing on the larger version with a image the full size of the frame (no mount needed/used) and the frame bowed at the sides so much the perspex wouldn't sit in the frame at all.1
perfect frameVerified ReviewerWe had a 3-d card given us when our son was born and this frame fits the card beatfully5
right sizeVerified Reviewereasy to fill with photographs5
Great frameVerified ReviewerI bought two of these for a pair of prints which our daughters had given us for Christmas. I wasn't absolutely sure that they were the right size when I bought them, but they were inexpensive enough for it not to matter if they weren't quite right. They turned out to be perfect - easy to fit the prints, the fact that they aren't glass is a bonus, and the prints look fabulous. Will definitely be back for more.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is fibreboard?

Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fibreboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.
