Shocking QualityVerified ReviewerI purchased this a month ago. The fabric is already badly pilling. I contacted customer service and they refuse to do anything about it as the fabric is not guaranteed. Don't bother buying.1
Poor QualityVerified ReviewerBought this back in 2019 and was initially happy. However after not much use the foam in the arm rest has shifted so that when you rest against it, you feel the sharp edge of the frame. This is supposedly "simply appears to be from natural wear and tear" according to IKEA so will not repair. Not something I expect from such an expensive item and suggest looking elsewhere.1
Great value for moneyVerified ReviewerIt is great, functional, not too comfy though4
Not easy to openVerified ReviewerWe bought this product a week back and we are now struggling with this we try to slide and open it is not coming out now my sofa is half open. We fixed this sofa from task rabbit guys who is working for ikea. How do I claim for refund or exchange. I am not happy with this product.1
Amazing sofa-bedVerified ReviewerI have been using the sofa for 4 mths now and looks very elegant, doesn't take too much space and I find it very comfortable. Whilst I thought is a bit firm in the beginning, now is much softer. I use it every day to relax after work and I even used it to sleep on it on occasion. I was quite circumspect when I purchased it due to some reviews but is a very good sofa which you can covert in a guest bed with no effort. I hope it lasts a long time because I absolutely love it.5
Really like this sofa bed but poor quality and customer serviceVerified ReviewerWe have had this sofa bed since 2019. Over the years it has been used as a bed a few times. I personally have slept on it and found it very comfortable. However, after a few uses we realised it isn't very stable. The part that you pull out and up keeps collapsing in on itself. I reported this to customer service and hoped to get the part replaced under the 10 year guarantee. Turns out that the 10 year guarantee only came into place in 2020, so nothing can be done for us. This is extremely disappointing. A sofa bed should last longer than this has, especially as it has been very lightly used and very well looked after. Reading the other reviews it seems this may be a common issue with this product. We are left having to buy a new sofa bed, at great expense. When we do some to purchase one, I'm not sure we will chose IKEA now.2
patheticVerified Reviewerif u wanna burn to death just by sitting at one place go for it . im literally sweating my back off as i write the review . please please dont ever buy this if u can't afford the cover for it .. its hyped pathetic sofa which will make you question your existence . wasted my hard earned money on this stupid sofa .. i would have bought second hand sofas for this price .. 2 actually and would have enjoyed every bit of it . now iwould rather work all day than come home n relax on this dumb sofa . i do not wanna come home as i have to look at this sofa . whoever invented this clearly wanted us to feel global warming . thank you for the wonderful experience of hell on earth. now i guess im prepared to enter hell and feel no burn. ugh1
unsweing sofa, no quality at all!Verified ReviewerIt’s not been even a year since I’ve bought the sofa and it’s full of fuzz balls, loose threads and now unsewing. I don’t have any pets at home, never used as a bed and doesn’t even worth the money. Don’t recommend at all. I’ve already look after my rights and IKEA told me there is nothing to do. No quality at all!1
Don’t buyVerified ReviewerI had one of these before and it was fantastic, so much so that after time we got a new one but the quality is AWFUL. The padding wore through, the frame broke and it falls apart. Quality has dropped dramatically on this. Shame as it was a fantastic sofa before!2
Sofa bedVerified ReviewerGreat sofa bed very comfortable ,was easy to put together and looks smart as a sofa1

6 months into the use, the faux leather started to come off and now it is looking like decades old sofa, where it is unusable for guests anymore which means we will have to get rid of it now (despite still comfortable & stable)1

3 years of abuse and only now showing signs of wear.Verified ReviewerFrom Slumber parties, family staying over, and weekend sofa sloths. Our family sofa has been abused. Bought in January 2020, it has survived the lockdowns with all our heavy bottoms plonked over and over. Last month one of the springs keep slipping out when someone sits in that area for longer than an hour. Clips back in easily. However, a good reminder to get up and move and stop binge watching Netflix.
Other than that it is still going and considering the last sofa cost £2300 and lasted 5 years, yes the children were younger, this sofa is looking much better value.4
Sofa bedVerified ReviewerNot the greatest don't think its worth the money, I had to drive all the way back because one piece was broken. And yeah got a new one but just don't really think its worth for what it is.3
Disappointing Comfort: My Review of the IKEA FRIHETEN Corner Sofa-Bed with StorageVerified ReviewerThe IKEA FRIHETEN corner sofa-bed fell short of my expectations with its discomfort. Despite owning it for a year, the sofa failed to soften over time and provide the desired comfort.
Upon delivery, a strong chemical smell, likely from a fire retardancy treatment, was evident. This odor caused breathing and throat irritation, raising concerns about potential health risks associated with such treatments.
While the FRIHETEN sofa offers convenience with its corner layout and storage space, the cushions proved inadequate, resulting in an overall uncomfortable experience. The lack of coziness made it challenging to enjoy the sofa fully.
In conclusion, my experience with the IKEA FRIHETEN corner sofa-bed was disappointing due to its discomfort and initial chemical odor. Prospective buyers should carefully consider the comfort level and potential health concerns associated with fire retardancy treatments.1
Love itVerified ReviewerI have this in beige and sleep on it every night as I use my bedroom as a studio during the day. So easy to get in and out and I like the firmness - only drawback is it's difficult to put a sheet on as there's not much room to tuck it in. Otherwise I love it and am about to order another one in blue for my son's room.. Great in a small flat as you can change the space in minutes.5
Great sofa and big bedVerified ReviewerEasy to put together. Comfortable to sit on and sleep on. Easily converts to a sofa bed without any hassle.5
Ideal family sofaVerified ReviewerIdeal, family sofa. Good value for money, a bonus to get extra storage under guest bed!5

Low quality materialsVerified ReviewerI bought the black colour sofa in 2020 (same version as currently being sold), as my landlord had an earlier version of this sofa with a great quality, what apparently decreased over the years. I have mainly Ikea furniture in my house, which I am happy with, except for this sofa. Mainly:
1) The cushions on the sofa do not stay put just one month after the purchase (so you will need to refill with foam crumbs at some point, meaning you are only buying the pillow covers basically)
2) The material on the seating part is kind of a faux leather, which starts to peel off after a few months of use. Something hard to fix (not sure if the warranty would cover that)
3) The support for the back cushions is very short, which makes the sofa very uncomfortable (Ikea reduced the height compared to previous versions)
4) The bed part under the sofa does not stay attached when you take out, so several times I had to manually put back (until I did a workaround with tape to "fix it").1
