Reviews

Beautiful (for media unit)Anonymous reviewerI needed a long worktop for the top of my bespoke 2.4m x 0.4m lounge unit. This is perfect, looks amazing. There was enough left over to ‘wrap’ the top and side of a shoe cabinet. Would definitely recommend for this type of application, and am considering buying another for a desk.5
Good for Office WorktopAnonymous reviewerThis worktop is definitely not of a quality that can be used in a kitchen it is however good for use in an office environment which is what i am using it for, nice desk set up.2
Not fit for purposeAnonymous reviewerI bought this worktop as part of a kitchen less than a year ago and the laminate has lifted already. I spent more money for what Ikea market as a ‘high quality’ laminate but apparently because water has caused the issue, the damage isn’t covered by the worktop guarantee as it’s not a manufacturing defect. So basically Ikea somehow magically expect you to avoid getting water on a kitchen worktop- if anyone manages this please do let me know how. Secondly the worktop guarantee isn’t worth the paper it’s written on especially if they sell you a product that isn’t fit for purpose. The worktop is about as good as a chocolate teapot!1
Do not recommend Anonymous reviewerNot a suitable worktop. Looks great, but as per other comments it scuffs and is really not hard wearing at all. Even having a protector on top (large plastic sheet) in less then 18months we are considering replacing due to the amount of marks/dents. Should not be sold as a worktop1
Far too soft for a kitchen worktop and doubled price in 3 yearsAnonymous reviewer1 star due to being advertised as a pre-cut worktop under the kitchen section but being completely unfit for use as a kitchen worktop It lacks a hard wearing surface that is required of a kitchen worktop from daily use with ceramic china and metal utensils While anyone with common sense will know that oak veneer on particleboard would be too soft for a kitchen worktop, I bought it for use as a desk where it would be less worn knowing this Cats claws have scratched it when jumping onto it. Testing on an inconspicuous area by pressing into it with a fingernail, it dents I dropped a hard plastic antiperspirant onto it from 1 meter, leaving a minor dent. No way this would withstand dropping ceramic cup/plates out of a cupboard without a dent I bought the 246x3.8 cm size “worktop” (if you can call it that) for £150 in Nov2021 but now it costs £300 in Oct2024 £300 for this is INSANE when its absolutely not fit for purpose. A solid hardwood worktop can be purchased for not much more1
Not long lasting at allAnonymous reviewerGlad to see from some other reviews that it’s unfortunately not just myself having this issue. The colour is quite nice and it was pretty easy to install, but unfortunately that’s the only good thing about this item. We installed it, and unfortunately after only a few weeks I noticed it already had scuffs and marks just from putting down cups/plates on there. We sought advice from IKEA and were recommended to apply their wood treatment they would disappear, however unfortunately about a year and a half later still it looks awful, to the point where we have still got a full piece in its box that we haven’t installed and can’t return. We were recommended this product by an Ikea kitchen planner for its longevity but it has barely lasted two years. There are sturdier and cheaper options from IKEA that I wish we’d been recommended. 1
Overpriced poor product . Anonymous reviewerLooks great at first but easily marked and chipped . A big no go if you have any children or pets also . Would rate this a 0 star if possible. 1
Looks goodAnonymous reviewerWorktop looks good, easy to cut. Need to be careful with scratches as it isn't as hard wearing as a standard worktop but you just need to be careful!4
DisappointedAnonymous reviewerI bought This barkaboda worktop and whilst it looks beautiful it is completely unfit for purpose . I have had it installed for one day and it has already marked from spilling a cup of tea . Completely disappointed . Not Suitable for purpose1
Not fit for purposeAnonymous reviewerThe worktops were installed today by a professional fitter and they are just not fit for purpose. I expected quality but these worktops are not. After just one day they are scratched and chipped. My son put a cup down and even that scratched the worktop. Very disappointed and they will need to be replaced.1
Beautiful but scratches too easily!Anonymous reviewerWe've had our worktop in for less than a year and it is completely scratched. There is no way that IKEA tested this worktop before selling it, it's terrible quality. It looks beautiful but as soon as you use it, it will scratch. I'm so disappointed, I spent a lot of money on a whole new kitchen from IKEA and I can't even be proud of it because the worktop looks terrible.1
DisappointedAnonymous reviewerHad new kitchen in just over a year worktop really disappointing scratches and marks so easily. Need a whole new length of worktop for it to look right again. Not cheap to buy in comparison to some of the other worktops and not durable for kitchen1
Very disappointedAnonymous reviewerI'm very disappointed. This worktop marks and stretches very easy. After only one year using this work top looks like need replacing already... I won't buy worktop in IKEA anymore.1
Beautiful finish!Anonymous reviewerDespite other reviews, we have had no scratches so far! It was installed byan Ikea installation service and so maybe it is their professional touch! We had it installed in July and so far so good! Thinking of making a table and window sills to match as it really adds to the whole kitchen.5
WorktopAnonymous reviewerBeautiful to look at but marks far, far, far too easily. It's an unacceptable product for IKEA to produce for a kitchen. Unfortunately I have found out the hard way having bought 6 worktops at a total cost of £750. They marked just on installation/ cutting, despite preventative measures to avoid scratching. We haven't even moved in yet so it's incredibly disappointing and there's no way I am re-cutting them again. I cannot believe IKEA did any form of testing on this product, it's that unsuitable for it's intended purpose.2
Marks really easyAnonymous reviewerLove the look but marks and stretches really easy3
very FragileAnonymous reviewerWhile cutting this worktop and turning it over it sustained numerous scratches and dents to the corners and surfaces despite bending placed on cardboard and dust sheets, so much so that we are now replacing it with a more durable alternative. Very disappointing, even if it hadn't been damaged during fitting I question its durability over the life of the kitchen as it seems to scratch very very easily.1

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet fixed on things like particleboards to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak and beech and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.

Quality

Built and tested to last

We believe that our kitchen worktops should meet your highest demands when it comes to design and performance, without compromise. That’s why we test our worktops, and put them up against the everyday challenges they’ll face in your kitchen: liquids, oil, food, steam, heat, bumps and scratches. When they’ve passed our testing, we know they’ll last, and we guarantee it for 25 years.
