"With the BARNSLIG series I wanted to make children happy, as well as stimulate their imagination and creativity. I believe colours have a positive effect on us; that's why I based the entire series on colours and contrasts. And I wasn't interested in capturing reality as it is, but as it might look like in a child's imagination. Everything doesn't have to be so perfect in their world - it's okay if something is a little crooked, or someone has big feet or a cute, round belly. The imperfect is just what's charming and lovable."
