DissapointedNichole M.We bought this for our twin boys. The front cover never stayed attached to the drawer. We drove over an hour to get this item. The drawer had to be thrown away.1
My son loves it.FELIXI like the fact that this can be combined with other furniture and can also be doubled up.5
Awesome kids bookcaseCatherineWell built and very functional5
Very poor qualityLaurenEssentially this is cardboard. My stepfather got so frustrated with this, he was putting it together when I was at work and when I came home he had most of it in the trash. He said the pieces completely splintered there was no reason to save it. I only have one piece left that didn’t splinter. I’m so upset about it.1
We love this bookshelfJANNAWe love the bookshelf. It’s sturdy and holds a lot of items. Assembling it was not to terrible, however I can make things more difficult then it needs to and I did just that when putting this together. Also, We used small storage bins to hold miscellaneous items in the pull out drawer. :) I highly recommend this cute sturdy bookshelf.5
Design needs improvement.DENISE L.I bought this shelf to store books and toys in the carpeted bedroom of twin toddlers. I usually have no issues assembling IKEA furniture, but a couple pieces of hardware were misplaced and took hours and a complete disassembly to remove. I accidentally placed the shallow flat head tightening nuts where the deeper Phillips ones belonged, and getting out the shallow nuts was very hard. When mounting the shelf to the wall one of my anchors disappeared into the wall. I believe it caught on the screw and there wasn't enough resistance to stop it carrying the anchor into the wall. So I'll need to buy more hardware to fix that. Two major functional issues to be aware of: first, this is low enough to climb. If you have a climbing toddler be prepared to embrace the fact they will climb this furniture. Second, the space between the shelf and wall allows children to drop books between the shelf and wall. When I pull the shelf out to fix the anchor point I'll be adding a barrier there.3
Excellent!MeganPerfect storage for kids toys and books. I like the big drawer and will say it holds quite a lot!5
Baby’s Room BookshelfVerified BuyerAdorable bookshelf with built-in drawer for toys or blankets! Easy to assemble and anchor to wall.5
Does not have cut-out for baseboard mouldingAndrew C.We were so excited for this shelf, but realized once it was built that there is ZERO cutout to accommodate a baseboard moulding!! Without this cutout, it's impossible to mount it to the wall. So here we are, with a six month old baby and a shelf we can't use. I've never seen this before with a baby shelf - extremely disappointed! Buyer beware!!1
Nice bookshelfChloeThis was exactly what we were looking for for our daughter’s room. Bookshelves & toy box all in one.5
Works greatAngelaWorks great5
Wrong board in packageChunxiao Z.We bought this online and have it shipped to our home. When we try to put it together, it turned out the back board included was wrong and there’s no way to put it together. I thought it was only bad luck and had it exchanged in our local ikea store. When we returned home with the new one and tried to put it together, the very same wrong board was there again. I think there’s a quality control problem. I will not try to purchase this product again in 2 years.1
Love this shelf!Elexxis R.We’re currently using this for our 1 year old son. I love that I can store a few books up on top and use the bottom shelf for Lovevery collection. The bottom drawer we use as Montessori/ Lovevery toy storage. It’s the perfect size for toy rotation. Highly considering getting another for our second kiddo. My only complaint, I was missing one plastic push in for the back board assembly.5
Great BUT had to make a second tripSANDRAHave been looking for something like this since the beginning of 2021. Finally in stock, and purchased 4/2022, and when it came to assemble a few key parts were missing. Had to make a second trip.4
Get this!SavannahThis works like a charm. Really helped to clear up space in our living room and contains the mess. We bought 2 and the storage is really just fantastic5

Perfect for my 3-year old nephewROSEPurchased this to hold books and toys for when my nephew comes over. It's easy to reach everything for his little height. I love the storage both in the bench and in the drawer.5
The stupid drawer makes this not worth buying!!!Shamieh W.I could have put together 3 of these in the time it’s taking me to do steps 33-34… the drawer!!!!!!! I am really ready to throw this into oncoming traffic. You telling me no tech expert flagged this and said MAYBE REDESIGN! People hate shopping here when assembly in painful. A kids bookshelf should be easy and it was until this drawer!!!!! If you don’t have hours. Skip this bookshelf. The drawer is horrible and makes it not with the time, money nor effort.2

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
