Works great as a shower stool.SunnyHaving had Long COVID for 2.5 years now, and having very little energy, I needed something that I can sit on while showering due to how draining it is. The IKEA BOLMEN stool works great for this, although I wish it was just a tiny bit taller (but the product wasn't designed for this so it is understandable). This thing helps me save so much energy, and I don't feel like I'll collapse after I shower now. There is no metal parts on this stool to rust, and the plastic design makes it very easy to clean off with my shower head after I'm done.
Great for elderly catsVeronicaThese stools have a small footprint and work well as a step stool to the couch and cat trees for our senior cats. They are sturdy with rubber on the feet to grip well and avoid accidents. Cats took right to them without an issue. Bought another one!
Not the old bolmenAnonymousThis current version is shorter and wider. No doubt it's a good nursery stool, but I want to alert those of you returning for the previous genius version, it's lamentably no longer available at IKEA US. I loved that stool and have two. It was taller, more compact, stackable with a narrower footprint. Great for a little shelf or step-up in the closet and easy to close inside without the feet sticking out. Perfect for spontaneous picnic seating, extra side tables in a pinch, and a half-squat perch for exercises. Super-handy for a spontaneous surface in the bathroom when out of hooks and bars, and great for landing grocery bags without having to put them on the floor or kitchen counter. Why not just make a nursery stool and leave the perfect bolmen alone? I see others looking for the previous version too. Returning the ones I just bought online. So disappointed. Compared to the old one, they're a squashed-looking one trick pony.

It's lightweight, very portable, holds up to 220 lbs (I do not weight that much so I'll take IKEA's word for it), and functions perfectly for what I need it for, which is sitting down to scoop out the cat's litter boxes, rather than having to fold my 6' self in half to do it, and getting raging heartburn in the process. Best $10 I've ever spent.
