Not as shown, missing piecesChristineDirections show two long brown pieces to install on the back and only received one AND the online pictures show the entire unit as white.
Shelves broke after a few monthsCatherineWe purchased the Brimnes bookshelf and assembled it 4 months ago. We put some cookbooks on the top shelf with no issues. Yesterday, when taking a book down, the entire shelf fell (most likely due to the tiny shelf support pins) and it knocked all of the lower shelves down, destroyed the support shelf above the drawers, and knocked the drawer rails off. I learned there is no warranty with the shelf, and I cannot return it for a refund. I am hoping we can at least get replacement parts, but I do not see the appropriate shelves on the website, so we will see what is available. If we are able to reassemble it, you can be sure we will be adding larger shelf support brackets.

Nice narrow book caseGaryWe needed a book case to fit into a narrow space and this fit perfectly. The shelves are adjustable, useful since we have books of different heights. It The drawers hold many other things related to the books on the shelves. It was relatively easy to assemble by following the instruction booklet.

Great bookcase except for the awful ODOR.AmyStraightforward Ikea build, nice bookshelf/storage unit, reasonably priced.
HOWEVER... The chemical off-gassing has been horrible! Ikea furniture made of manufactured wood generally has an odor, but this piece has by far been the worst by several magnitudes. Almost intolerable to be in the same room with it, took weeks to dissipate. Minus one star for that alone.
Looks nice, but missing hadware JoelIt looks nice, and seems to be sturday knce you anchor the top to the wall. But beware, you will need to have the screws that are missing from the pack. The handle screws were missing from mine.

What is particleboard?
Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded.
