All the cotton in our products comes from more sustainable sources. This means that the cotton is either recycled, or grown with less water, less fertilisers and less pesticides, while increasing profit margins for the farmers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from natural and high quality materials I am so happy with quality the mattress. Known that the mattress is made from all natural materials make me feel happy to sleep on it. The thickness of the mattress is also a bonus because It makes the mattress firm enough to feel comfortable when lay down or jumping on it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Bought 2 mattresses couple of months back. right after one day of use, i felt it started sagging from the centre. i was told that it will take some time to settle but it has been 2 months now and it has not. both left and right sides are high and centre is lower. i tried sleeping both sides for a while but still not working. i wake up with neck and back pain every morning. Not recommended. think twice before buying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great value Purchased to replace a mattress that didn't perform as I had hoped. The HIDRASUND is just as promised, we chose the firm one and are very happy with it. Comfortable and cosy! Great value for money...now only if you could work out how to make it lighter to lift to change the sheets.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from very heavy We bought this about a month ago and find it is not what we thought it would be. It is very hard and yet it already has a dip where I lie and am about 83Kgs. We will be returning it as we are not getting good sleep and awake sore and tired

Rated 1 out of 5 by from sagged, heavy and unmovable I have no place to write this comment since the one Hesseng (King, firm) I bought 2 years has been discontinued by IKEA. It seemed that this one is the replacement for the old one? The mattress is ok at first but it started to sag in the middle too soon even though we are only 2 normal adults sleep on it. The most infuriating thing is that the IKEA staff of Canberra told me it is normal wear and tear. No one expected to buy the most expensive mattress from IKEA and it started to sag in 2 years and get your back pain every morning. It is not wear and tear. That is called faulty product. Secondly, the returning of the mattress to the store is my own responsibility. But it is 80kg which took 3 strong adults to lift when we bought it. It means I have to hire someone or pay IKEA to send it to Canberra store to assess it. It could always be rejected arbitrarily by their staff just like the staff members said "it is wear and tear". In that case, I am gonna have to pay another fee to send it back to my house or recycling shop for nothing. 25 years guarantee is just the promotional strategy. It is naive to trust them gonna exchange or return it. Last, I have complained this online 2 weeks ago (it said they are gonna contact me with in a few days) but no one reached me yet. I am still waiting...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible, returned but had to get store credit I tried this mattress for good long 4 months and it was just really bad on my back. I sleep on my stomach so had to change sleeping on my side to adjust to the mattress firmness but after a while I had this excruciating upper back pain when waking up. My wife is a back sleeper and couldn't continue to sleep like that and could not find a good sleep position anymore. I knew the mattress was not good on the first month but took my time to return/complain because of the 1 year full refund policy I saw on their website. Of course it comes with fine printing and for mattresses they only give you store credit which is rubbish because most decent mattresses stores in Sydney will now give you a full refund, pick up the mattress for free, no frills! Right now I'm very happy with my non-Ikea mattress. I'm really disappointed at Ikea and after this credit is used I'll stay away from it as much as I can.

HIDRASUND Pocket sprung mattress IKEA

Smart functions

Sleep well a little bit closer to nature
Night sleep is important so that you feel good. It's when the body and the brain recover ─ you relax, your blood pressure drops and your muscles relax. A good night's sleep is sometimes challenging, but many people find that a bed in natural materials, such as cotton, linen, wool, natural latex and coconut fibres, provides a comfortable climate and efficiently removes moisture. To create better sleeping comfort, we've combined natural materials with new and smart technology.

Sleep well on latex, coconut and spirals

Adults sleep an average of seven hours per night. It involves important hours since it's when the body and the brain recover ─ we relax, blood pressure drops and the muscles relax. Everyone tries to find their own path to a good night's sleep, and for many it involves a sleeping environment with as natural materials as possible. This made us wonder if we could develop our bed range in natural materials - and raise the quality even more.

You've probably also experienced a bad night's sleep from time to time ─ tossed and turned, fully aware that you'll feel a bit tired and worn out the next day. Sleeping problems can have many different causes: perhaps it's temporary stress, a bedroom which is too warm, or a bed that simply doesn't suit you. Many people enjoy greater sleeping comfort with natural materials closest to their bodies. Materials such as cotton, linen, wool, natural latex and coconut fibres remove moisture efficiently and provide a comfortable climate with even temperatures. Natural materials have long enjoyed a given place in our bed range, but product developer Filippa Borg and her colleagues decided to develop the range to achieve even higher quality. "We wanted to challenge ourselves to make the world's best bed comfort with natural materials by combining them with the latest technology."

High comfort level with natural materials

The team dived into the realm of natural materials and looked at how to best combine materials and new technologies to develop the highest comfort level possible. "For example, coconut fibres have been used to sleep on for thousands of years, and you still see coconut fibre mattresses in the Indian countryside. But we cover the fibre threads with natural latex to provide greater elasticity and comfort", explains Filippa. The coconut fibre proved to be an excellent renewable filling in STUVLAND headboard, unlike fossil-based foam that is often used as a filling. The team also increased the comfort in HIDRASUND pocket sprung mattress with coconut fibres together with layers of wool, natural latex, cotton ─ and a completely new type of pocket spring. "A problem with pocket sprung mattresses is that they often sag in places over time. Not least the outer edges where you sit", says Filippa.

Smarter spirals

Traditionally, comfort zones in a pocket sprung mattress have been created by leaving spaces between the pocket springs. But it's those spaces that can lead to the mattress sagging over time ─ according to engineer Tobias Franzén, who found a solution. "We succeeded in solving this puzzle by combining spring spirals in two different thicknesses. Depending on how they’re positioned, we can easily create different comfort zones and achieve a higher level of quality." Both Tobias and Filippa are proud of the higher quality and the good test results of the entire range. A new bed is a big investment and, like the rest of the bed range, the new beds have a 25 year warranty. "We want you to be assured of getting your good night's sleep for a long time", says Filippa. "If you sleep around seven hours per night, you're going to spend almost seven years total in bed during that quarter century."
