We really love wood!

It is a beautiful, recyclable and renewable material. IKEA is a major user of wood and that brings with it a great responsibility. We are committed to reducing deforestation by using only wood from more sustainable sources (recycled wood or wood certified with the FSC label) by 2020. This means that no wood is used from vulnerable forest areas. In addition, the forest must remain intact, and no more wood must disappear from it, than it can grow. Of course, there are also requirements for working conditions for the workers.

All acacia purchased by IKEA comes from FSC-certified crops. Together with suppliers, small-scale growers and international partners such as WWF, IKEA ensures that acacia is grown in a responsible manner.

Last year, IKEA contributed to the FSC certification of 15 million hectares of forest in priority areas. That's a larger area than the province of Utrecht!

Natural, durable acacia. Acacia is a naturally durable and sturdy hardwood for outdoor use. This is due to the high density of the wood fibres. For maximum protection, it is pre-treated with wood glaze. By occasionally re-lacquering the furniture, you can enjoy it for many years.

For the LISABO series, a technique has been developed using solid wood around the corners and wooden slats in the table top. The natural appearance is retained thanks to a specially developed lacquer that makes the surface immediately wear-resistant. A real wood look and more environmentally friendly at the same time.
