What are the general delivery restrictions and requirements?
To ensure that your delivery is successful, you must provide a safe, clear, and adequate space for your products to be delivered by the transport partner. If your delivery is going to a higher floor than ground level (i.e. an apartment or building), sufficient access via stairs or an elevator is required. Deliveries through staircase are limited up to and including the 4th floor unless an elevator is available. While most IKEA products can be delivered, some fragile or oversized items may have restrictions.
All delivery methods require there to be adequate, clear and safe space available. Any delivery details will need to be provided at the time of booking.
- For residential apartments or homes with multiple levels, the delivery driver can only attempt delivery up to and including the fourth floor of the building. Elevator access is required for any additional levels.
- Do you live on one of the Wadden Islands? Then your package will be delivered by PostNL or DHL. For truck deliveries, an IKEA transport partner will take your order on the agreed date to the transfer center of the appropriate island carrier for an island delivery. The island carrier provides transport at a separate cost to your island address. Ask the carrier about the amount of these costs.
- Do you live in an area with limited delivery time windows? This is taken into account when planning your delivery, so that you can receive it within the window times.
- Deliveries are unable to be made to P.O. Box addresses or addresses deemed unsafe such as active construction sites.
- Is your staircase too narrow for a large items to be carried through or do you live on the 5th floor or higher without a lift? Think of couches, large mattresses, kitchen worktops heavier than 60kg, wider than 150cm and/or longer than 200cm. Then you will need to arrange an external elevator yourself or book this with IKEA for €149,-. Some municipalities in the Netherlands require an exemption or permit for parking the external lift on the street. If this was not arranged prior, the delivery will be made on the ground floor.
Most IKEA products are eligible for delivery, some of our articles are limited to in-store purchase only. Items not available for delivery include but are not limited to some mirrors and glassware, live plants, and food items sold in the Swedish Food Market. To see whether an item you are interested in is available for delivery, search the article on the IKEA website.
There is a minimum order value of €15,- for parcel and truck deliveries. Some products also require a minimum number of items to be delivered. The delivery options available for you will be visible at checkout depending on your order value, size and number of items.
You will be asked to specify the delivery location including the floor number when ordering online. Provide any additional delivery instructions such as parking instructions, access restrictions, and building access notes by contacting customer service.
