Do I need the receipt for returns and how is the refund made?
Yes, the original receipt is required - unless you registered your IKEA Family profile on this purchase. The refund will be made back to the original method of purchase, except for some specific products.
The original receipt is required - unless you registered your IKEA Family profile, in this case we find all your purchases in your purchase history.
Refund will be made back to the original method of purchase. If you return plants, custom-made products (worktops, sofas, metre textiles, etc.), food, products from the second chance market or products bought abroad that are still in our range, we will only refund you on a refund card to be used in one of our stores or online.
Depending on the refund method, it may take 3 to 8 business days for the refund amount to appear in your account. Check the status of your ongoing case in your IKEA profile under "Purchases and Orders/Cases and Returns".
If you made your purchase in a Swiss store and no longer have the receipt, and it was not saved in your IKEA Family account, IKEA can look up your store receipt with a few details:
- Date of purchase
- Store of purchase
- Exact amount of the full transaction
- Last 4 digits of the card used (card payments via a digital wallet may have different last four digits to the physical card).
Some products without receipt and packaging can still be returned and sold back in the stores, as part of our Secondhand service.
