What should I do about the recall of the IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press?

IKEA asks all customers who own an IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press in black to stop using it and contact IKEA. The products affected are those with the following article number: 201.521.58.

Why is this product unsafe to use?

Due to a manufacturing defect identified during an internal investigation, there is a risk that small metal parts may become detached during use and subsequently be swallowed with food. All date stamps from 2411 (YYWW) to 2522 (YYWW) are affected by this recall. All affected products can be identified by a frame around the IKEA logo on the upper handle of the product, which looks like the image shown below:

 

 

If customers are unable to identify whether the product is affected, they can return any IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press, black, and receive a refund.

 

What should customers do now?

Customers who own an affected garlic press should stop using it immediately and contact IKEA to receive a full refund. IKEA also encourages customers to inform others about this recall, especially if they know that the recalled product has been given away, lent or resold.

 

How customers can obtain a refund

The affected product can be returned to any IKEA store for a full refund. A proof of purchase (e.g., a receipt) is not required. Customers can find more information at www.IKEA.ch or by calling IKEA at the toll-free number 0800 000 007.
