What payment methods does IKEA offer?

You can use a variety of popular easy and convenient payment options to pay for your IKEA purchases. Those may vary if you want to buy online, in the app, in a store or in a Plan and Order Point.

You can pay across all channels with Mastercard, Visa, Amex, PayPal, TWINT, Apple Pay as well as with our IKEA gift, refund and credit cards.

If you want to pay in a store, you also have to book your order in a store: booking online and paying in a store is not possible.

Here is some important information about several payment methods:
a. Cash
Paying cash is only possible in our stores (not in the Plan and Order Points). You can pay in CHF or in euro banknotes. In that case, please note that any change will be paid out in Swiss francs at the rate of the day.
b. PostFinance card
This payment method is only accepted in stores and in Plan and Order Points. If you wish to use your PostFinance card online, most are enabled as Debit Mastercard that can be used. The TWINT app is also an alternative.
c. IKEA gift card
Gift cards exist both as physical or digital card and can be used in all our stores, Plan and Order Points and online.
This payment method can be combined with a credit card payment, as long as you use the gift or refund card before using the credit card.

d. IKEA refund card
Refund cards cannot be purchased and are only provided by IKEA Customer service as alternative to a refund or for payment of second-hand products.
Refund cards exist both as physical or digital card and can be used in all our stores, Plan and Order Points and online.
This payment method can be combined with a credit card payment, as long as you use the gift or refund card before using the credit card.
e. IKEA vouchers, discount codes and non-IKEA gift cards
Depending on the card you received, if you want to use it online, it will have to be processed whether at the beginning of the order (in the field “Add discount/voucher code”) or at payment (in the field “Gift card”). You can also only combine one discount or non-IKEA gift card with another cash or credit card payment. A voucher, activity card or discount code cannot be purchased and is provided by IKEA during campaigns or activities. Usage and validity of a voucher, activity card or discount code is described in the terms and conditions for this specific campaign or activity (f.i. birthday).
f. IKEA Family credit card
This card is available for IKEA Family members who wish to pay in instalments without annual fees and at 0% interest rate during the first 3 months, with our partner Cembra.

g. IKEA for Business payment card
As an IKEA Business Network member, you can apply for the IKEA for Business payment card. This is a convenient payment method for companies who wish to have multiple payment cards linked to one account and pay on invoice within 30 days.

h. Invoice
You can pay online per invoice via CembraPay, except for Click & Collect orders. CembraPay will send you an invoice after the delivery, to be paid within 30 days. Private customers may also choose to pay in up to 3 instalments.
Problem while using a payment method?
Depending on the payment method you try to pay with, here are different options to consider:
  • IKEA gift card, refund card, activity card, voucher or discount code:
    Verify the validity of your card.
    Some cards need to be entered online at the beginning of the ordering process in "Add voucher/discount code", some at the end in "Gift card".
    If you got them at one of our partners, the card might also need 48 hours to be loaded.
  • IKEA Family credit card:
    We don't have access to your invoices, please contact our partner Cembra directly.

  • Invoice:
    This payment method is not available for Click & Collect orders.
    Check for incorrectly spelled e-mail or delivery address, or wrong postcode.
    Business customers: billing address in the order is not the same as registered in the commercial register.
    Private customers: billing address is different than delivery address.
  • Generic computer settings:
    First try to clear cache and cookies from your browser – or to change browser.
    Also verify if you have security settings, an active firewall or an active VPN that should be deactivated.
  • If you still have trouble paying, please try a different payment method or contact us.
