What makes a frying pan suitable for induction?
Nothing beats the comfort of a non-stick frying pan on induction. It heats the pan with a magnetic field, so the hob stays cooler and feels safer. Just remember the pan itself gets hot and can warm the hob too. Induction gives fast, precise control to save energy and make cooking easier. And with non-stick, food like eggs, fish and veg is less likely to stick – perfect for everyday favourites.
What's special about cast iron frying pans?
Cast iron pans have been around for ages. They offer excellent heat distribution and loads of other benefits. They do need seasoning first, though: rub with vegetable oil, heat for about an hour until smoking, cool and wipe off the excess. This protects against rust and gets it ready to go. Why bother? A cast iron frying pan is worth it. Pros swear by them for a great sear and bringing out natural flavours. They're tough, get better with use (building a patina that improves non-stick over time), and handle open flames or the oven. Our cast iron pans also work on induction.
Who are stainless steel and copper frying pans best for?
Uncoated stainless steel and copper frying pans can be trickier. Without coating, food sticks and burns more easily. They're best for experienced cooks, though keen beginners can master them with practice. Nail the technique, and you'll get deeper roasted flavours and loads of umami.
What are the benefits of ceramic non-stick frying pans?
Frying pans with a sol-gel ceramic non-stick coating make cooking even more relaxed. Food sticks far less, so you can use much less oil. Cleaning's a doddle too: grab an IKEA dish-washing brush, add a bit of washing-up liquid and rinse under the tap.
