There are several reasons why a drinking glass can shatter. Don't worry: in the vast majority of cases there is nothing wrong with your other drinking glasses!

Warm liquids and tempered glass
IKEA thoroughly tests all products before we approve them for use with hot liquids. Always read the product information to determine whether your IKEA glasses are suitable for hot drinks such as tea and coffee.

These glasses are made of tempered glass. This means that the glass will shatter into many small pieces if something goes wrong. This way there are no sharp shards that you can hurt yourself on.

To stack or not?
We understand that stacking your glasses is an easy way to save space. However, we do not recommend stacking glasses on or inside each other. This can cause minor damage to the surface, increasing the chance of the glass breaking.
