IKEA classics

Design is a form of craftsmanship that seeks to bring functional and attractive form to everyday objects. We love this definition and we put it into practice in all we do. We also like it because it doesn't say that design has to be expensive or exclusive. IKEA design is design for the many.

STRANDMON armchair

Did you know that the STRANDMON wing chair that featured on our catalogue cover back in 1951 was our founder Ingvar Kamprad's own chair from home? This product has been with us for over 70 years and is definitely one of our favourites.

POÄNG armchair

This Scandinavian-style armchair was launched in 1976 under the name POEM, becoming a sales success. In 1992, we saw the birth of its successor: POÄNG, a more modern version replacing a design that had been in use for 15 years.

LACK table

The LACK table is a classic that was introduced in white and four other colours in 1979. Priced at SEK 78 (EUR 7.80), it became a hit and was named product of the year. Everyone was happy, except for Ingvar, who thought the table was too expensive. The LACK table is still available for purchase in 2021, now for less than its original price.

LISABO series

We are very proud of our LISABO series, which has won the prestigious international Red Dot Award for its design. Our special technique means we are able to produce a table without support rails and with slanted edges that give it a hand-crafted look

NORDEN table

A bit of imagination and a burning desire to get the most out of our spaces was all we needed to design the perfect folding table. We've given it a simple, typical Scandinavian look and added drawers.

FRAKTA bag

The blue bag is as much symbol of IKEA as the Allen key and meatballs are. So iconic that it has even been reproduced by a high-end designer handbag company. It's the only IKEA product that people can't do without. We're not talking about BILLY, KLIPPAN or PÖANG. We're talking about the blue IKEA bag. How did we make this blue bag such a success?

BILLY bookcase

The 1967 catalogue saw the launch of TIGA, BILLY's precursor. It was a huge success but we struggled to keep up with demand. We responded by releasing other very similar versions, but these weren't suitable for use in combination. In 1977, these versions were unified and the BILLY series was born. We could never have imagined that this bookcase would be in so many homes around the world.

MICKE desk

Our aim was to create a dream product with maximum functionality that would take up minimal space. A look with simple lines where cables are hidden and tidied away. It also incorporates storage space.

RÅGRUND series

Bamboo originates from and grows in tropical climates, in conditions very similar to those of in our bathrooms. That's what inspired us to create this shelving. We worked with local artisans to create a unique and environmentally friendly series.

DUKTIG play kitchen

Designer Mikael Warnhammar wanted to reproduce a real kitchen — including all its main functions. A ceramic hob, a sink and an oven were essential. And the height? That had to be realistic too. That's why it can be adjusted to two or three positions.

A practical and highly decorative solution for virtually any room in your home. Its sturdiness and wheels mean you can use this trolley wherever you want and its compact size means it is even suitable for tight spaces. This is just one of the reasons why these trolleys have become so trendy in recent times.

IKEA PS 2014 lamp

David Wahl is passionate about video games and science fiction films. He came up with a design that allows you to manually change the shape and intensity of light. When closed, it resembles a ball of fire.

HEMNES day-bed

Functionality and versatility are key when space is at a premium. That's why we designed the HEMNES day-bed to fulfil four functions: single bed, double bed, sofa and storage solution. We will never cease to be amazed by the success of this product since it was first released in 2004.

DRAGON cutlery

It has outlived all other IKEA cutlery series. Since its launch in 1982, this everyday superhero has held strong in the catalogue for nearly 40 years — owing, among other things, to its timeless design.

KORV sausages

Ingvar Kamprad insisted that the IKEA hot dog should cost much less than it does in the city and that it couldn't be just any sausage — it had to be a good quality sausage! An excellent way to round off a visit to IKEA.
