What can I do if my item gets damaged while taking it home or during assembly?

Did your item get damaged by accident while taking it home or while assembling it? If you used your IKEA Family card when you bought it, you may be able to use the Oops insurance. Use this article only if the item was accidentally damaged while taking it home or during assembly.

I used my IKEA Family card when I bought the item

If you used your IKEA Family card when you bought the item, you may be able to use the one-time Oops insurance.
This is possible if you meet the following conditions:
  • you can show proof of purchase
  • you report the damaged item within 14 days of purchase
  • you have not made a claim through the Oops insurance in the past 6 months
  • the item is not a mirror, glass item, IKEA Food product, item from the Circular Hub, or an item that was already replaced through the Oops insurance
Do you meet the conditions? Then please contact the IKEA Customer Service or visit an IKEA store. Please have the following ready:
  • the damaged item, if you are going to the store
  • your receipt, invoice or order number
Can’t find your proof of purchase? You can log in to your IKEA Family account to view your purchases and invoice.
 

I did not use my IKEA Family card when I bought the item

If you did not use your IKEA Family card when you bought the item, the Oops insurance does not apply.
You can still contact us or visit an IKEA store to check if a spare part is available or if the product can be replaced at a cost.
