How do I make a fitting for my IKEA kitchen?
If your kitchen doesn't connect to the wall or there is space left between two cabinets, use a fitting piece to fill the space. To make a fitting piece, use a covering panel that you cut to size yourself.
Our kitchen installation guide gives you a quick tutorial on how to make a fitting.
A fitting piece can be secured with a corner bracket. These brackets are not included in the delivery, but can be purchased from a hardware store. This way you can also place an adapter piece between a corner cabinet of 128 cm and the base cabinet which is at right angles to it.
Tip: use the cardboard from the covering panel packaging to measure the space to be filled before you start cutting.
Do I always have to place a fitting next to my built-in fridge or freezer?
You must always place an adapter piece of at least 5 cm between the wall and the cabinet for the refrigerator. This will allow you to open the door of your fridge or freezer far enough so that the vegetable and freezer drawers can be opened.
How do I fit the bracket to my 128 cm METOD base cabinet?
A fitting piece is required for the 128 cm METOD Bottom-Door Cabinet because there must be enough space for the cabinet door to open fully. The fitting piece and mounting hardware are included with the cabinet.
To finish this corner, you can mount covering panels over this white fitting piece. You saw the covering panel at a width of 7.5 cm or wider if there is more space between the under corner cabinet and the cabinet next to it.
How can I finish the space in the cabinet that remains after installing my oven or (combi) microwave?
To mount this fitting piece you do not use a covering panel, but you use a 10 cm high drawer front that you saw. The cut is then neatly finished off with a FORBÄTTRA cover strip. Mounting brackets and screws for the fitting are included in the scope of delivery.
