How thick should my countertop be for an IKEA hob?
In most situations, your countertop should be at least 28 mm thick.
A hob is usually between 5 and 10 cm high. In most situations, your hob will protrude from the bottom of your worktop.
To ensure that the hob is still sufficiently ventilated and that you have enough space to mount, for example an oven or a drawer underneath, the countertop must have a minimum thickness.
Do you have a countertop that is less than 28 mm thick? Then you may have to raise the countertop, for example with the FIXA support fitting. This depends on the items that you are going to mount underneath the hob.
